Genesis was written by several ppl. This sounds like 2 different ways to say the same thing. Though I have been wrong before.
If you think that's confusing, read the gospel accounts of Jesus' crucifixion, only 2 of them agree to what his last words were.

These women were not "Hittites" who lived in Turkey, they were "Heth-ites" (spelled and pronounced "hittites"), descended from a man named Heth, a Canaanite.
Judith, daughter of Beeri
Bashemath, dauthter of Elon
Adah, daughter of Elon
Bashemath, descendant of Ishmael
I seem to remember that Elon was one of Esau's allies (likely an Ishmaelite, judging from where the Ishmaelites and Edomites settled). It's possible that he married two of Elon's daughters. It's also possible that these were two different women named Bashamath; it depends on how common the name was. For example, there were two men named Elon living about the same time, one was a grandson of Jacob.

This is so stupid. Moses wrote Genesis, and you say that in making up this "incredible lie" he mixed up lineage. I didn't even look it up, but he took several wives. in the second verse it doesnt mention Judith. Beeri was the father of Judith, Elon was the father of another different wife.

Yes daughter = descendant. According to Jewish tradition it didn't matter if you listed EVERY person. Hence the difference genealogies with Christ where one has like 28 and the other 40.
But the clincher evidence: "A record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ the SON of David, the SON of Abraham" If you take it literally you'd think Jesus was David's son and Abraham's grandson, but the words "son", or in the Genesis account "daughter" just indicated being a descendant, not a biological daughter or son.

Yes, that has always been the intelligent thing to do when things seem confusing, question God. Thomas did it when he heard something that couldn't be true. Job's wive even dismissed God when her kids were killed. You have all the reason in the world to explain God away. In the short time you have on the world go ahead and dismiss God. Or stand defiantly in the face of good reason and do the noble thing and trust in him. Face Him on judgment day and say, "I stood believing in you until the end". You choose.

And you honestly don't think there is the slightest possibility that Esau married "Bashemath-Adah," daughter of Elon the Hittite, and "Bashemath-Mahalath," daughter of Ishmael, sister of Nebajoth?
Why would a man who was forbidden to marry a Heth-ite want to call one of his Hitite wives "Judith" (meaning "Jewish woman")? Why do you suppose he would call one of his wives "Mahalath" (meaning "Disease")? Do you really think that her parents named her "Disease"? Or do you suppose that was a (mean) nickname to distinguish her from the other Bashemath?
In my family alone there is William, my mother's maternal grandfather, William, my mother's father, William, my mother's brother, William, my father, and William, my father's brother(yes, two brothers both named William!). How do you think that genalogy would look in text? After all, we know that people never used the same name for different people in the ancient world... Try Mary (Theotokos), Mary (of Clopas), Mary (of Magdala), Mary (sister of Moses)... or Jacob (of Isaac), Jacob (Jesus' grandfather), Jacob (of Zebedee), Jacob (of Alpheus), Jacob (brother of Joseph)... John (of Saul), John (of Zebedee), John (the Baptist), John (Mark)... or Judah (son of Jacob), Judah (Iscariotes), Judah (brother of Jesus), Judah (Canaanates), Judah (Zealotes)... etc.
And that's not to mention the guys with multiple names, like Alpheus/Clopas/Cleophas, Joachim/Eliachim/Heliakim/Heli, Simon/Petros/Barjonas, Saul/Paul, John/Mark, etc.,
Or Leverite marriages with multiple genealogies (Salathiel, Zerubabel, etc.).
Or linguistic variants (Yeshua/Iesous/Jesus).
