No I have not, but let me explain from an Officers point of view.

In Texas as in most other states, It is required not only to have a License to operate a motor vehicle, but that you carry that license on you when you are driving.

If I pull someone over for a traffic violation, and they do not have a license on them I will ask them a lot more questions then normal. The first two questions will be do you know your Drivers License number and do you have any other form of Identification on you.

It is not uncommon for criminals to know all the information of another person. Such as Drivers License Number, Social Security Number, Date of Birth, Home Address, etc. So without a second form of Identification it is my departments policy to take you to jail. We don't want to write a ticket to the wrong person.

If I can prove you are who you say you are then it goes back to the other question I asked. If you can provide me with your Drivers License number and that license returns clear, I will give you a written warning and send you on your way. If you don't know the number and I have to look it up, I will give you a ticket for Fail to Display Drivers License.

Hope this helps.

You will get a chance to either pay the ticket and take what ever consequences go with it..you can probably have a chance to talk with a court person and try to explain the reason you did what you did. Your explanation here seems pretty straightforward to me...If you have your license by then you will have to pay a ticket and probably some little other thing. It's not a big deal..don't be afraid . Just get the book and have your mom quiz you on the questions about 10 times. EVERYTHING THAT WILL BE ON THE TEST IS IN THE BOOK good luck...you're a kid..kids do stuff....that's why they're kids ♥

Getting caught without a license is an automatic violation and this is used as an aggravating circumstance in the filing of a case against the culprit.

Here in GA, if you are caught without your liscense on you you will recieve a ticket, you can go to the court house and show them a your liscense when you go to pay it and 5 years ago it was 15 bucks, though now I am sure it has gone up a little

If you are caught driving on suspended liscense you get escorted to jail. When you go to court you recieve up to another year suspension (for me it was a year), you have a fine to pay (amount is decided by judge, for me it was $1000), and possible probation.

I was going to the gym early one morning, and forgot my wallet.

The officer who pulled me over asked me my license number, and that I produce the registration and proof of insurance.

After everything checked out, I got a ticket for not wearing my seat belt, with no other repercussion.

If you do get cited for forgetting to carry your license, if you produce it at court, the judge may dismiss the charge.

Good luck!

No...but I have a suspended driver's license right now, and people are telling me that if I get caught they can take me to jail, fine me, and suspend my license for even longer. Not really too smart, but I have to drive!
