I've been with my girlfriend for quite a time now (2+ years). However, I have a huge crush on one of her closest friends. I really want to just forget about the friend and continue to pursue my current relationship. However, its been over a year since i had the initial crush and no matter what i do its not going away. Its pretty much killing me inside. Any advice will help.

Consider how you'd feel if you dropped your current girl, started a relationship with the new one, and then spotted a third girl that was even better?

It's human nature to grow tired of what you have and wish for what you don't. It's just a matter of maturity (not strength) to learn to be thankful for what you have and protect it.

If you have been thinking of this same girl for over a year, chances are that your feelings for her are more than a crush. I think you should try to find out if she shares the same feelings. If she does, then you should break up with your gf (you don't have to tell her the real reason it will only hurt her) , and then ask the girl out.

Frankly, if you have been thinking about this other girl for a year, then you are not happy in your current relationship. Don't be afraid to leave something that is not working with you because your chance at happiness might slip away. And don't listen to all the people trying to scare you that girl might not like you, you gotta take a chance in life to progress.

However, under NO circumstances should you cheat on your gf, if your thing is not working, tell her/break up with her before you ask someonelse out.

Hope this helps! :)

Two years is a long time so don't just drop your girl like a hat. Spend more time with your girlfriend and try to get her friend off your mind. If things don't get better between you and your girlfriend, then go ahead and break up with her, but not because you like her friend but because you aren't happy with her. Don't let the friend get involved with the relationship you two have at all right now, keep her completly out of it.

If you two do break up let things settle down for a month or two (however long it takes) then her friend can become a dating option. Don't hurt your gf and her friends relationship though, that is just about one of the worst things taht can happen to a persons love life. Good luck with whatever you decide!

If your feelings for your GF were real you wouldn't want any other girl! Break up with her coz your only going to break her heart in the end! The best friend will probably not go out with you any way though, since girls usually stick together.... good luck though, and hope you find someone that you can be true to. Cheers!

It's not going to help even if you break up with your girlfriend. The friend is not going to like you any better, she might even hate you. I know because I've been the third person many times, on accident of course. And those guys who like me, I hate them all.

PS. It could be lust.

It will be nothing but trouble. Stay away from it. Ignore the friend. You should reexamine your current relationship if you are getting attracted to others in such a way.

Are you sure it a crush, or is it lust, maybe you should keep your current girl, because if it was more then lust you would have approach her by now.

Learn to live with this crush, but DO NOTHING . . . it will teach you discipline, which you will need MANY times in your life.
