I believe an orphan would need a loving & caring parent. Someone who would not give them a temporary love but a love which is unconditional and stand the course of time.

That completely depends on the location and situation of the orphan. Here are the basic needs of any child, including orphans.

The most important thing orphan need is care and love, acceptance and encouragement, somebody who will stand by them. To sum it all they need Jesus as a friend to keep and guide them, Comfort them and to give them vision

Stability, reassurance and love. To be made feel that they really do matter, to be kept safe from harm. Then the basic food, shelter, clothing. But the most important I still think is stability.
