It is always the homemade garbage that half stays and then later you visit a real tattoo artist to get them to cover it up for you.

Pretty much everyone comes to the same conclusion with these: "What was I thinking?!"

Hands are loaded with bacteria, you cannot sterilize a needle by dipping it in alcohol, etc. and thread....well, who knows where that has been?

pointers: DONT, but fortunately you didnt waste your money on a tattoo machine.
aftercare: trip to the doctors to make sure you dont get ink poisoning or infection.

info:Safety pins are made of a certain type of steel that CANNOT be sterilised. sterilisation requires so many pounds of pressure and steam for a prolonged time. Alcohol and bleach do not make sterile, Certain viruses take a while to die, and the way the pin is made some of the substances it touches are actually embedded into the metal and will always be a part of the coating on the outside of the pin (ever noticed how safety pins tend to get a brownish black coating after a while just on the tip?)

For starters you picked a place where the ink doesnt usually stay very well, even when its properly tattooed by a professional, so more than likely even if you still think it was a good idea a few years down the line its still going to look like hell, and at least it will be faded and worn off enough for a professional to do soemthing about! You do know apprentices who are perfectly capable at your local studio work for FREE. And you're not likely to get an infection like you can with your own unsterile equipment.

i have a home made tattoo done with indian ink and a sewing needle with thread wraped around the end. i've had it for 'bout 13 years so i hope you did a good job cause you'll have it the rest of your life. you will want to burn or sanitize the needle then wrap the end with thread because it will hold some of the ink and you won't have to dip it as much or poke your self as much cause the ink will flow down over the tip giving you more ink in spot

I have, and I keep it as a reminder of why I don't get tattoos. It was with India ink and a pin wrapped with thread a few dozen times about 1/4" up the pin. I was buzzing and trying to repair the botched job done by my roommate and her girl-friend, who were high on a lot more. Most of the people I knew well back then were dead by their 30's.

My brother is a tattoo artist, and yes, he's tattoo'd himself tons of times. He does it like he would do anybody else. He prepares the drawing on tracing paper, prepares the ink, gun, sterilizes what he needs to and begins. He's given himself one across the whole smaller under part of his arm that says "FAITH" because his best friend's mom died last year of cancer. He was close to their family as well as his own, and the mother's name was Faith. He's given himself the "Insane Clown Posse (Sp?) character on the calf of his leg, and many many more! They're all pretty big and he does a very good job. The first one he did on himself however was a tad bit shaky because he was nervous. But anyways, it's just like giving a tattoo to anybody else. Good luck☺.

sadly, i did give myself a tattoo when i was young
I used a jar of ink and a sewing needle
all i did was dip the needle in the ink and then puncture my skin but not that far in.
this took several attempts to make it look "presentable"
I say the chances of yours staying are somewhat good.

Most of the artists I know started out tattooing them selves. Their thighs are like doodle pads. That's why a lot of them end up with really bad a ss thigh pieces. It is a big cover up.
