Well, its very general question and also Its not 100% true. We must understand it in different stage of life.
I am considering only boys coz question is asked on that part only.
age 5-10 :
Boys are more towards their parents and playing games, comics etc.
age 10-15 :
Boys are more towards sports like cricket, movie etc.
age 16-21 :
its a different time for Boys when they find, there is some difference between them and girls. And Girls also start behaving maturely and generally start keeping a difference from boys. It creates a curiosity for boys. In college life, attraction, it becomes a trend. So these type of different factors make image of Boys like that.
age 22-30
its mix age for boys when they have mature feeling for friends or opposite sex.
But in short from the age 16-30, every one looks for really good friend. For the shake of faith and caring nature "Girls are best friends of Boys". So simple.

It is basically a matter of instincts. It is natural, psychological, physiological, social, biological, biochemical and so no so forth phenomenon.
The nature has decided that the living beings mate & prodice better offsprings to sustain evolution of life.
CAUTION: Human life is not only about mating & repriducing. So follow the norms of your society and do everything at appropriate times.

guys sometimes need gals to be by ther side as there mates will never be there like a gal would gals are more understanding and caring so they can be like a rock so they feel stronger when they need it also they like to have a gal that can help them no what a gal reali wants

dats b'coz its the grid for the reolationship wid gals in the biggining....they just want one gal wid dem...but in the future they may get closer to gal and it may b the sign of love.....i dont believe in love at first site.....so to know smone better its always better to get closer first.......and girls should allow dem up to some limit only.....wat u say????
