Jesus never told us of a true prophet after him. He did warn us of false ones, however.

Jesus is the end of the Old Testament Prophets (of which John the Baptist was the last). Jesus is complete in Himself and needs no other "voice" --- however, Jesus asked the Father to send the Comforter (The Holy Spirit) back to earth after Jesus ascension into heaven. The Holy Spirit did come (the day of Pentecost) and the Church was born. Now the Holy Spirit gives gifts to the Church. One of these gifts is Prophecy. Someone who is a blood bought, Spirit filled Christian that is used frequently in this particular gift (there are 9 gifts of the Spirit) is called "a Prophet." There is not one particular person that is any greater than another because the gift resides in the person of the Holy Spirit and He uses people as He will in the gift as they yield to Him. So, the Word says that the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of Prophecy --- Jesus is the Son of God, complete in Himself so there is no need of some great, major Prophet as in the Old Testament before Christ.
