My sister's boyfriend went to jail & she has no clue how long he's going to be gone. She's been faithful up until last night. Her view on it is like this..."He's the inconsiderate one who kept making the bad choices that put him where he is today. Am I supposed to just sit around & wait for him? Or do I go about my life like he isn't here (cause he's not) & when he gets out, let everything pick up where it left off? That's what he gets for going there in the first place." I see her point, but it still seems wrong. What do you think?

Damn people whats wrong with ya'll, wat happened to giving others the benefit of the doubt?

Everyone makes mistakes, some more than others, but its not ever to late to change the direction of a life, Whether it be your own life that needs changing or someones elses.

I don't know your sister or her boyfriend, but the individual in jail is in need of support at a time when most would abondon. Incarceration is not the way to rehabilitate someone but to have a positive effect on the individual they need to be reminded every day of the people and things they care about and also care about them.

When you go into a place like jail, especially prison, your lucky if you get out. The people who do get out usually have the capability of being twice the criminal they were than before they went to jail. And to prevent that from happening, to discourage that option and make them want to turn their own life around, they are going to need someone that can be depended on and loyal and devoted to their need.

Now assuming an individual such as your sisters boyfriend is guilty then yes he did make the choices that put him were he is, and now it is her turn to make a choice because this is a chance to help someone change in a positive way and to encourage them to be a law abiding and productive member of society. Or you could unknowingly encourage the negative side to all this by acting in the way that others have stated.

Of course I am trying to answer from the positive perspective that the person in question wants to change or has hope of being able to change and along with this is accepting of change.

She needs to walk away from him now. If he is always making bad choices like she said odds are he won't change. If they have children together it will be the kids lives that are ruined by his bad choices. No she should not wait for him and when he gets out she should not go back. Cut all ties and walk away. As for what she did, she should have at least told him bye by before she did it, but at least she is starting to move on with her life. I wish her the best!

My old man has been in and out of jail! Prison actually! It is time for her to decide if she wants that kind of life! I'd set my goals a little higher! It is inconsiderate of him not to make a better life for her! I'd imagine while he is out, he spends all his time trying to go back! It's just a matter of time til he gets caught! What kind of life is that for your sister? If I were you I'd wish a less stressful relationship where she can be happy too! When your whole life consists of visits through plexiglass and sending packages and a bunch of promises in letters that are never fofilled when they are released! It is time to move on!

She needs to forget about him. He is a looser. She won't ever go anywhere in life with this guy except down. Be there for her and support her to oust him out of her life. Tough love is needed in these situations. Stay strong for your sister.

I think I would have split up with him when he went to jail and see what happened after that. I wouldn't want to hook back up with a jailbird anyway so I would have handled it differently. She should have broken up with him before she did her little deviation. Jailbird or not, he deserves to know she's gone. Good question!!

your sister is right. but what makes her think that things are going to be the same when he gets out. what if he dumps her cause she cheated on him. that is still considered cheating. unless they both agree that she is going to see other people.
