Major types of cancer differ according to different life styles and food habits among different people. For example a country with extreme poverty such as India and other similar countries where people go hungry, cancer type will differ from that originating from a very luxurious lifestyle of rich countries where physical activity may be low and obesity high.

Cancer type also differ according to gender. Breast cancer is a major risk factor for women. While prostate cancer affects men. People living in villages or habitation close to mining sites of radioactive minerals are exposed to deadly radiation and are likely to develop skin cancer and other types of cancer as well.

Breast cancer, blood cancer (leukemia), Lymphoma and Mouth cancer are some of the most common types of cancer.

The most common cancers in women in India are: - Breast, Cervix, Uterus and Oral Cancer. Among men - lung, skin, head and neck and prostate. Most important is that these cancers are detectable in early stages by simple measures. If detected early, cancer is completely curable.

Cancer Warning Signals

* Change of bowel or bladder habits
* A sore that does not heal
* Unusual bleeding or discharge
* Thickening of lump in breast or elseware
* Indigestion or difficulty in swallowing
* Obvious change in wart or mole
* Nagging cough or hoarseness of voice.

Cancer screening checks include

* Blood, Urine and stool examination
* X-Ray Chest
* Ultrasound scanning whole abdomen
* Mammogram
* Pap smear
