Please tell me why do people say that if you write in short hand, you need elocution lessons and that you need to learn how to spell because i normally write in short hand but because of some people saying that i need to learn how to spell (except i do) i have started to write in long hand. Also Why do people judged young people by the way they write we all don't talk like it why just use short hand because it is alot quicker than writing in long hand.

Well, as I'm studying Linguistics &I'm doing speech therapy as well .People who are writing in short hand do not need to suc elocution lessons .Normally ,it could considered to be rude for writing in it .But only in cases of an SMS -I think - we could use it becaue letters are limited.
So you don't need elocution lessons IF you know the right way of pronunciation & spelling .If you ONLY don't know the right way of spelling ,then you need it.
&also the dialect should be put in consideration for example ,we couldn't say that people from NY need elocuion lessons ,because it's their own dialect.
Hope it helps,
If you need any other questions don't hesitate to contact me.
Good luck

When I read text messages from younger members of the family out loud it does sound strange. I can just about grasp the meaning of the text. I am amazed at the speed at which young people can text and type on their computers. I think, in the future the Language will change dramatically and this speed will be accommodated by change in spelling and possibly a standard shorthand text. As an older person I can say to you many older people pass judgement too quickly.

(Most) People (I know) like reading long hand. It is supposedly a sign of "proper education" (that's not the word I want to use, but I can't think of anything better for it) and being literate.
