As a serious amateur, which one should I get? Is the Leica worth almost $400 more? The flip-out screen feature is IMPORTANT to me, and I'm not seeing any other 10 megapixel cameras which have this feature.

I personally wouldn't agree that the Leica is worth more. I think the mark-up is due entirely to its name. The cameras do have different processing engines, and the Panasonic has done a little better on tests in the UK than the Leica.
