I have a lot of tattoos, but this weekend I got one under my arm, just below my armpit on the inside of my bicep. The tattooed area itself is fine, but below it is red, warm, and somewhat irritated. I've never had this reaction before, but then again I've never had a tattoo in my armpit. Anyone know if this is normal because it's an extra-sensitive area, or should I see a doctor?

you just got it, so i would assume that it is not infected. some parts of the body are much more sensitive. my foot tattoos swole up for over a week and oozed but they ended up being fine. it's just the body's way of healing.

i would go back to the tattoo place you got it done at and just ask to be sure they wont charge you anything for the consolation and the guy has probably already done a tattoo in that area if it is in fact infected he will probably be able to tell you what to do and what you should put on the tattoo to make it heal better i have had some problems like this before with my clients and it always helps if you ask the guy that did the tattoo for you what might be wrong as i cannot see what it looks like and i don't know if he used clean needles or what kind of ink he used i cant really tell you whats happening but yes that skin is very sensitive just go to the place you got it done and get it checked out it doesn't sound bad at all you just might not be cleaning it as much as you should or your deodorant may have come in contact with the fresh tattoo and that could have irritated it a little.

I hate when a punch of opinioated people who dont know what theyre talking about answer questions!!!

Did you put any deodorant on that arm or scented soap on??? Wore any new clothes without washign them??That stuff can seriously piss off a fresh tattoo if it comes in contact during the healing process. Stop putting any aftercare on it. Take a benadryl and go see your artist. They should be able to tell instantly if there is a problem with it.

An infection usually shows up as a purplish red area about 1 or 2 inches around your tattoo. There will be puss, its gonna hurt........trust me you'll know the difference if you already have soem that its infected. Yours doesnt sound like it, but since we cant see it go to your artist to be sure. Even if you didnt go to a reputable place to get it go to one now and they will at least be able to tell you if theres a problem.

Well my first tattoo, in hindsight, was infected or I had some kind of weird reaction to - I had little red bumps all over the surrounding area of my tatt (back). I was later told it was the ink or the AD ointment??? I don't know, it could be that. Either way, I got over it just fine. Just keep applying the AD and if it gets worse then take a trip to the shop or maybe another shop for a diff. opinion.

Foot tattoos are infamous for swelling up and being uncomfortable for the duration of healing. the exterior on your feet is extremely delicate, and spends maximum of its time lined up and guarded with the help of footwear and socks - so having a tattoo accomplished comes as a hell of a marvel to it! it is consequently particularly widely used for it to swell up in reaction. while you're nonetheless disturbing, then for reassurance i might advise taking it for somebody to take a seem at. For selection i might say start up with your tattoo artist incredibly than a doctor; medical doctors tend to no longer comprehend all that lots approximately tattooing, while tattoo artists needless to say do. Your artist can show you how to already know in the experience that your tattoo is doing something unpredicted. yet from what you have stated - incredibly the actuality that the swelling has now began to subside - it sounds particularly widely used to me. suited needs, and luxuriate on your tattoo!
