Well I got approved for a $10,000 credit limit. One is a visa($5,000) and the other is a master($5,000). I also get a savings account with new millennium bank. The credit status report said: none required, Account Acceptance says: Gauranteed, and the credit card type is: fully secured. acceptance deadline is 03/05/07.
I have to send in $37.50 to get both cards, or just $29.00 to get one. Now my question is..... Am I being scammed or is this how you do the whole credit thing because I want at least 1 card! I dont want to hear people tell me to never get a credit card BC that is not what I'm asking, I will pay my bill every month, and I dont want to hear life stories about you credit debt problem BC IM NOT YOU! I just simply want to know: is this (besides applying) the first step to getting my card.

This sounds like an advance fee loan scam. Be very cautious in paying for credit. If you have concerns on this credit card company, I would search the better business bureau to see if any complaints have been filed, as well as the state banking or consumer affairs agency in that state where the credit card company is located in.

More info on scam:
"According to the FTC, fraudulent advance fee loan schemes prey on particularly vulnerable consumers - the unemployed, the working poor, those who have bad credit ratings, or those in immediate need of money for emergencies. Most advance fee loan telemarketers snare consumers through cold calls, or in response to advertisements in various local newspapers, on cable television, on the Internet and through direct mail. Ads promising "money to loan ... regardless of credit history" lure consumers into paying fees that range from $25 to several hundred dollars in advance of receiving "guaranteed" loans. In many instances, consumers never receive the promised loans or credit cards, and either never hear from the loan companies again or are merely sent credit card applications."

no one can really know if it is a scam or not without knowing the website.
New millennium bank is a real credit card (had one)
but I would be suspicious of cards that offer such a high dollar amount without any credit checks.

On all of the credit cards I have ever gotten I have never had to pay in advance to get the card, they just billed me the amount if there was one.
If you do decide that the $29.00 is worth the risk please pay with postal money order and NOT a check (as you dont want to give them access to your bank account).
I would be suspicious if they dont offer alternate forms of payment. If they dont but you still want to try it why not order a credit card in your dogs name.
Seriously.
If they reject him they will refund your money.
If they dont then you know what you are dealing with.
$29.00 is a small price to pay for piece of mind.
It will be money very well spent if this is a scam. If it is not then you have risked nothing.

****
just to be sure that you are not giving some thieves open season on your credit I would strongly suggest that you 'test the waters'

Since they dont check your credit, it i doubtful that they will help raise your score.
I am not trying to kill your dreams but
I would feel awful if you were on a scam website that used a real company to make the scam seem legit.
Look up the aol scam to see an example of a real company whose name was used to trick users into giving up ALOT of sensitive information

Call your credit card provider and explain to them what you did, you may have to close out your account. Even if this company wasn't a scam, you would have a bunch of unwanted charges on your card. DO NOT EVER AGREE TO ANY SALE OVER THE PHONE.

Scam, don't even answer them.

Credit cards are applied for and granted in accordance with your economic status, i.e. earnings and job security. The upper and lower limit is offered accordingly. Anything outside this system is scam. They want to robe you of the said amount.

Rule of the thumb is anything on the internet too good to be true is scam.

You are very wise to ask first and not to get into this trap.

All the best!/

Ignore the first to posters and send in the money.
Someone with such a wonderful attitude as yours deserves to get a few breaks.
NO life stories here except that my cousin's sisters best friend has that card and she paid $59.00 to get it if you can get 10k for only $37.50, you should seriously do it!

take the cards before they change their minds.
Get them both and increase your score, you sound very responsible and the other people reading this question are probably just jealous that they didnt get the offers made to them.
If you get them both and charge half on one and half on the other you could increase your credit score over 80 points in a few short months.
