I am a grown, mature woman with an M. Div. in Biblical Studies and I still find difficulties with the concept of the Trinity - but I beleive it. I know of no person who can say, "I understand totally the Tri-unity of the Godhead."

halo: The answer is YES. Take a candle and light it. Now; label the respective parts. i.e: The flame is God the Father, the light emitted is Jesus Christ and the heat produced is the Holy Spirit. All 3 comprise the "candle" but each component has it's distinct workings. The Father gives the directives, the Son ("logos" or "Spokesman"), orders it done and the Holy Spirit does the creating or execution of the order. - ALL three work together as one, in complete harmony or "agreeness" !!! Hope this simplifies it a bit for you !!!

So what? Even Muslims acknowledge that Allah is unknowable, right? Christians never claimed that the doctrine of the Trinity is within human comprehension. This is revealed by God, and is something we believe in by faith and try to understand, in part. We have written many books to try to expound and clarify what the doctrine is, but it is human folly to think that we can unravel the mystery of God's divine triune nature.

It is said that once John of Chrysostom was walking along the seashore thinking over the question of the trinity and trying to reconcile it with finite reason; his attention was attracted to a boy sitting on the shore putting water into a cup. Approaching him, he said, "My child, what art thou doing?" "I am trying to put the sea into this cup," was the answer. "How foolish art thou," said John, "in trying to do the impossible." The child replied, "Thy work is stranger than mine, for thou art laboring to bring within the grasp of human intellect the conception of the trinity."

Let us, free from past tradition, investigate the reality of this matter. What is the meaning of the father and the son?

This fatherhood and sonship are allegorical and symbolical. The Messianic reality is like unto a mirror through which the sun of divinity has become resplendent. If this mirror expresses "The light is in me" - it is sincere in its claim; therefore Jesus was truthful when he said, "The Father is in me."

The sun in the sky and the sun in the mirror are one, are they not? - and yet we see there are apparently two suns.

The Jews were expecting the coming of the Messiah, lamenting day and night, saying: "O God, send to us our deliverer!" But as they walked in the path of dogmas, rather than reality, when the Messiah appeared they denied him. Had they been investigators of reality, they would not have crucified - but would have recognized him instantly.

O ye that dwell on earth! The distinguishing feature that marketh the preeminent character of this Supreme Revelation consisteth in that We have, on the one hand, blotted out from the pages of God's holy Book whatsoever hath been the cause of strife, of malice and mischief amongst the children of men, and have, on the other, laid down the essential prerequisites of concord, of understanding, of complete and enduring unity. Well is it with them that keep My statutes.

Time and again have We admonished Our beloved ones to avoid, nay to flee from, anything whatsoever from which the odor of mischief can be detected. The world is in great turmoil, and the minds of its people are in a state of utter confusion. We entreat the Almighty that He may graciously illuminate them with the glory of His Justice, and enable them to discover that which will be profitable unto them at all times and under all conditions. He, verily is the All-Possessing, the Most High.

Once again , it sounds like trying to brainwash a child, into a religion, that is forced upon the child ....How really sad you people are.... Your Trinity was stolen from the Pagan Religions of Yesteryear... Just like most other things you believe in, they have Pagan roots.... Your Trinity is to me .... The three aspects of the Goddess , Maiden -- Mother -- Crone... When your beliefs are over 40,000 yrs old and still alive , then make some more noise.. Right now I would call what you are attempting , is child abuse..

I was much younger than 15 when introduced to the concept of the Trinity - it was never a problem with me. Sometimes I think adults have a problem "understanding" because they try to complicate everything by trying to understand to the nth degree - and God cannot be fully understood like that. However, the faith of a child makes complete "sense" to their understanding when they accept simple explanations. Look at the example of the egg - one of the best examples of the Trinity - clear, easy to see, easy to understand but still people ignore the explanation and convolute the simplicity of the Trinity. What is so hard to understand about one egg with three parts - but the three parts makes up one egg? Nobody seem to have a problem understanding the egg.

You probably could if there were simple phrases to express what the concept of 'trinity' is, since most children under 15 are humanly intelligent. However, I don't think you should - let them find out for themselves, if they want to, when they want to.

I explained it to my kids like this; We are made in His image with three parts, a mind, a body and a spirit.
God Has three parts also. God the Father is the Mind of God, His thoughts, His Desires and His will and His Word.
God the Son is the Body of God, The Word became Flesh, The Spoken Word, The Physical Manifestation of God.
And the Holy Spirit is God"s Spirit, The Power and the Energy Source, The Life of God.
That is as simple as I could explain it and they all seemed to understand it. I don't know how accurate I was but that's how it makes sense to me.

Explain it by saying the Firstborn of all creation, wasn't the firstborn at all.. Also explain that when Jesus died, he didn't really die, but was merely pretending to die. For "GOD" is the Alpha and the Omega.. The Beginning and The End... Thus, it would be an impossibility for him to ever die... Also, in Genesis.. when it speaks of him as the seed, God was speaking of himself but under an assumed name... Thus, the seed that came from Mary was just God himself and Satan knowing it was God not just Jesus, played along in tempting God.. Knowing he had to fulfill God's will, by pretending Jesus had an actual choice in making a wrong decision.... Point Is... There is no "Trinity"....
