I've seen this several times on this site alone. The only time I've seen a poll stating 70% of the people believe in any one thing is in regards to the troop surge or troop funding, not an end to the war. Any ideas where people are getting this 70% of U.S. citizens want to end the war?
Here is my source for all polls about the Iraq war: http://www.pollingreport.com/iraq.htm

hera - Controlled polls are bad enough, but you actually want people to believe that an online poll that has been open since 2005 has only been answered by U.S. citizens? I don't think so. All that poll says to me is that 80% of the world believes we should leave Iraq, I have no problem believing in that, but that still doesn't answer my question. Thanks for trying though, I appreciate it.

Rich A - Actaully, the Gallop poll does not say that, at least the most current one does not say that. It says that 70% of the people polled disapprove of how the Republicans have handled the war to the Democrats 63% disapproval rate. http://www.pollingreport.com/iraq.htm If you have a source saying 70% diapprove of the war, I'd love to see it. Thanks.

I haven't seen that poll, but I have seen the ones that there is only a 28% margin that approve of the way the war is being conducted,

WHO CARES what Americans think anyway..
The point is that 90% of the rest of the world didnt want the war.. as it was never justified.. the reasons were all lies.. and still are.. and the outcome has been the destruction of a sovereign nation..
NOW.. 100% of the rest of the world (besides Israel) are against the war.. so when will USA respect the rest of this planet.. or does it think the world will sit back another 50 years and watch USA start more wars????
Americans are so brainwashed by your own media anyway.. that most Americans dont know tyheir head fro mtheir anal cavities any more.. so really.. who cares what US polls are saying.. they're largely irrelivant now.. no one cares!! just get out of Iraq and stop stealing oil from poor countries..

Cuz american people are like any other
Peace loving and tend to be more peacfull than violent
alot of the puplic dont support the war and wants it to finish
cuz they have sons/friends etc.. getting killed for nothing but serving the agenda of the current administration
i've traveled to 65 countires through out my business and i've been in 39 states in the u.s and i found out that Americans are the most kind hearted people i've ever seen in my trips
and the u.s govermnet is trying to destroy this image about americans by conducting the so called war on terror but most of people including the 70 % of that pool thinks that it's the war of terror and war of oil and they just want their loved one to be back alive and live amoung them and let the govemrnt sort thier own problem that they've created

Actually the Gallup Poll says 71% of Americans are opposed to the Iraq War. There have been more blunders in war planning, blunders in military intelligence gathering, blunders coming from the mouths of King George and Court Jester "DICK" Cheney that sometimes I think I'm hearing the same speeches from the Vietnam War days. It's a rewind of history. We can't get involved in other countries' civil wars, period. Nation building is wrong. To force a country to adopt our practices who don't even share the same cultures as we do is wrong. I love my country and always will hope for the best for our society, but this war has been just plain wrong.

Maybe because it is true? If you talk to people, most people say they are tired of losing our men and women to that place. If the Kurds can get their act together in the north and not have ANY attacks, then those people in the South can get their act together. If it hasn't happened by now, it NEVER will. It has nothing to do with our troops, because our troops can't change a country. Over 80% of Iraqis WANT the US to withdraw immediately, if they don't want us there, then we shouldn't be there in the first place.

Some people think if they say something enough times that it must be true. If 70% of the people really did want it to stop without it being finished it would it is that simple the majority rules in this country. Anyone can make-up a bogus website and put whatever bogus statistics they want on it. We have the right to free speech because the majority wanted it.

Im pretty sure that everyone wants the war to end. Maybe if the question was rephrased as, "Should we end the war in iraq right now?", more people would say no. They know that it would be a bad idea to pull out immidiatley, but people want their family and friends back.

Those numbers fluxuate some week by week, but I'd say that's pretty close to accurate. The numbers I've heard are around 63 percent.
Point is, most people think this war and president are cluster
fu(ks.

US citizens wanted taxes they paid to the government to be used in other beneficial projects rather than spent in war when no weapons of mass destruction were found.

91.7% of americans are more likely to believe a statistic that ends in a decimal place.
