and will this area be effected by pregnancy? i dont plan on having kids ever but if somethign does happen or if i change my mind...

i have a high pain tolerance.. i dislocated my knee four years ago.. last day of physical education playing the sport i hated the most! (volleyball in 10th grade) and didnt shed a tear.. it just felt weird. lol the morphine shot hurt worse then i started crying cause i was so drugged up! lol i basically just laid there wishing i was at home sleeping....

but piercings do hurt me a bit..i have 4 cartilage including a rook which i hear is one of the more painful ones to get... . 4 lobes and navel.. they were very bearable though

this would be my frist.. and youd be about 5 to 7 inches at the largest...

on a scale of 1 to 10 how bad? do you think i will be able to handle it since i do seem to have a high tolerance for pain???

thank you so much!

peopel keep telling me to get it on my shoulder blade. since its my first.and my other choice..

but i like the idea of it being on my left shoulder and being able to show it off in the summer.. and i liek the idea on the side cause it hink it looks sexy.. and last choice would be in the middle of my back. but im afriad that tattoo would look a bit distorted.. (the tattoo is 3 flowers, rose, daisy and a pnsy or poppy)

From what I understand, and I could be wrong, it all depends on how well you handle pain.

I had a teacher once who broke his ribs, can't remember exactly which, and did nothing more then give an annoyance pain.

i have three tattoos and absolutely LOVE them! i'm on my way to planning sleeves...but that's not the point. i'll explain how i have for other friends of mine who have asked me...

as a kid i had to go 3 times just to get my ears pierced (kept chickening out).
i still wanna cry just getting blood drawn at the hospital.
i think bee stings are painful.
my first tattoo was done on the very top of my foot, which i've been told by many this is a very sensitive, painful spot; and that i was insane to go for it on my first....i barely felt a thing! lol
i also had my navel pierced the same day and felt more pain with that.
i have since got 2 more tattoos, and piercing in my tongue, lip and ear cartilidge.
i'm gonna go out on a limb and tell you you'll be fine. just stay below the neck & off the rib cage and you should make it ok!
plus...if this tattoo is really something you want...you won't mind the pain

I have a pretty high tolerance too, and I'm getting mine done this Sat. (a tribal from my hip to rib area) I already have one on my lower back and it didn't hurt much. i'm super nervous about the pain but my artist says it shouldn't be too bad if my back didn't hurt. I had to do a deposit so I have to go through with it - haha. I'll let you know how it goes.

if you want to get your ribcages tattooed then by all means do it! one of my tattoos extends all the way out to my sides but you can't see it from the front. i haven't had any work done yet other than outline and it kindof tickled but i hear that the ribcage is brutal. i hope to get mine done one day. i think it depends on how much weight you gain in pregnancy as to whether it will affect it or not. i think i'll wait til after kids and see how my sides look then.

i have a side tattoo (hip bone to breast) and i love it!

yes it does hurt, there is a lot of bone there, but its not too bad. its bearable like you said. and after the endorphins kick in you will feel great!!! my arm kept falling asleep though, and it came down and hit my artist (thank god he was just refilling ink!) so my husband held my arm up out of the way- be aware of this.

also keep in mind during healing its gonna hurt. whenever you reach to grab something or stretch or bend down your side will move and your tattoo will remind you that it is there :)

good location choice!!!
