if your comingfrom a sedentary lifestyle, don't expect to be body builder in a week. The key to losing weight is PATIENCE. Because if all you do is weigh yourself or criticize yourself in the mirror...you'll just get frustrated. be realistic with your goals. if your FORCE yourself to run 'this' fast, or carry 'this' heavy, you might get yourself disapointed and might just send you crashing to square one.
As for your work out...
start with long walks arounf your neighbohood. try 30 minutes everyday. and GRADUALLY add 10 minutes eveyr two weeks until you reach 45 minutes do this for about 2 months. then sign up in your local gym . The key to an effective workout is working your endurance first and then your strength.
45 minutes everyday of cardio exercise is ideal for fat burn. do something you enjoy or listen to your ipod so that you wouldn't be watching time while you exercise.
as for your food intake:
switch your harmful diet to a more healthy version
-such as a greasy pizza to a gourmet vegetarin pizza
-white bread to whole grain /wheat bread
- white rice to brown rice
( a good alternative for rice is sweet potatoes, makes you full and is very low in calorie, plus its a complex carb, making it easier to burn! :)
- if your a soda drinker and cantgive it up, go for the diet soda
also commit yourself to a NO FAST FOOD diet
eat 6 small meals to build up ur metabolism
ideal food plan :
breakfast : quick cook oats + banana
coffee/tea/milk
mid morning snack : apple, boilded egg whites
lunch : tuna in water +wheat bread+toss salad+orange
midafternoon snack: 3 cups healthy pop popcorn
dinner : steamed fish+toss salad+sweet potatoe
late night snack: yogurt
key to eating 5-6 times a day is PORTION CONTROl. If you allow yourself to eat so much every three hours, then this will be counterproductive.
eat slowly and enjoy your food
your taking in calories, might as well enjoy them :)
you may not lose 30 lbs this summer, but i assure you that converting to this healthy lifestyle will bring you farther than just looking great for the season.
Good luck! :)

Make a plan! The key to losing weight, and keeping it off, is burning more calories than you consume on a daily basis. Cut back your portion sizes, and don't completely cut out sweets, that will lead to binging. Also, do not reward yourself with food!
Here's a sample of a daily food plan:
Breakfast: 2 pieces of whole wheat toast, little butter. 2 eggs. 1 glass 2% milk.
Lunch: Enchilada, with small sour cream on the side. 1 diet soda/glass of milk.
Dinner: 1 salad, light dressing, with 1 glass of iced tea.
They say that lunch should be the largest meal of your day, and dinner the smallest, because the body has a harder time digesting food when your sleeping, and by the time you go to bed, you're still digesting dinner.
Allow yourself a snack, but try to keep it to fruits and vegetables. Carrots, pineapple slices, bananas, or apple slices are really good snacks. Allow yourself a desert every few days, but keep it small! Maybe a small slice of cheese cake or a cup of icecream with no syrup. Try to exercise at least 4 times a week, for an hour. Start with walking, then jogging, and then get a gym membership or start using the exercise equipment you have in your garage. Make it realistic, and just try your best to stick to your plan. Good luck!

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.
I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.
It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.
Get started today!

If your just going for weight loss, I'd say do a lot of cardio, walking/running 20 minutes 3 times a week. The biggest problem is motivation, so before you start, find a reason to lose this weight, (you should do it for yourself but it's not always enough motivation.) Possibly for a girl or whatever.
The biggest thing is what you eat, cut back on junk food, in fact give it to someone else, or throw it away, buy fruits and vegetables, lean meats and potatoes, and whole wheats.
If you wanna put on some muscle, use the same diet above, start light, dont' try to show off or "fit in" with the bulky guys, workout 3 times a week. Your first week will be your hardest, cuz after your first day your going to be sore as sore can be but you have to stay at it, and not be "I'm still sore, I'm gonna wait another day" Just lift every other day or you'll lose your motivation.
If you want to get results fast, it's primarly your diet, whatever you do, don't EVER starve yourself it's the worst thing to do to your body. If you want to give your body a boost, right when you wake up each morning do some jumping jacks or pushups or just a quick 2 minute jog, it'll get your metabolism rolling, and eat fruit and something with wheat for breakfast to get a good energy boost started, and right before you go to bed, do jumping jacks or push-ups any sort of exercise and your metabolism will keep high and burn fat while your sleeping. (shower before you goto bed too lol.)
Keep yourself Motivated!! Even if you dont' see results immediately!!
Good luck!

I just currently bought this program P90X. By all means its not an easy thing its actually very hard and you have to be dedicated. But this will whip you into shape. Its gives you a diet plan that isnt bad it one that easy to live with because you dont have to completely cut the carbs out of your diet but you have to exercise your *** off. But you do this for 90 days intense working out and you will prob loose more then 30 pounds and build tons of muscle. But like I said before its hard and you need to commit an hour to an hour and a half a day for six days a week. If thats to much for you then just do tons of cardio (running, jumping jacks) and the south beach diet is great too. Good Luck

Buy the South Beach Diet book and go on that diet. It works, really. I lost 50 lbs in 4 months. The first 2 weeks is really hard, but if you can get through it, than it will be simple for you to get through the rest of it. I lost 12lbs in the first 2 weeks. Also their is a lot of good information on the net about it, recipes and advice. Good luck!
Oh, and I wouldn't recommend the Atkins Diet. I know quite a few people that suffered kidney infections and failure from that diet.

Exercise, exercise, exercise. 1/2 hr a day. Avoid fast foods like the plague.
Let's see, it's mid Feb, so that's 3 1/2 months to go. So, that's 2 lbs a week.
That's the borderline for trying to lose weight without a doctor's guidance.
Eat sensibly, but avoid the sauer-kraut and cottage cheese fad diets.

if you really want to loose the weight then you have to apply youself. walk or jog everyday for at least 30 minutes and watch what you eat. if you can keep your intake less than 40 grams of fat a day you will notice the results quickly. but dont give up after a week coz you cant see a change. Keep it up or you will hit summer and be upset with yourself. its only hard getting started, then its fun.

Force yourself to they gym at least 3 days a week and sweat, no grooving to the oldies..Richard Simmons stuff....Um, I'm actually trying myself, I guess that elliptical machine is more bang for your buck burning calories, I prefer the treadmill ...I call those elliptical the beast...
I put the treadmill on a high incline and down....so who knows....
I've done nutri system and all that stuff, just try hard to be conscience of what's going in your pie hole....And no night eating....
You know what to do, just do it....
