I have to put up with bad memories daily. They come in my mind for no apparent reason, and immediately, my thoughts turn to violent retaliation fantasies for what was done to me, and I have the same feelings of helplessness and lack of control as when things happened. Most of the time, the slights were insignificant, but the amount of rage behind them are tremendous.

I've tried therapy, self-help, and meds. I'm even trying propranolol therapy, which is experimental, but even that doesn't help. A lot of times, my thoughts are stuck on wondering when God will ever love me enough to heal me of these thoughts. I beg, plead, pray, etc., and nothing. I'd give almost anything for a life totally devoid of these thoughts. I've tried everything I can think of to stop them. I even tried slapping myself everytime I had these thoughts. All that did was cause bruises. Life isn't worth living as long as these thoughts harass me and take over my life.

I'm sorry i don't think there is a way to get rid of memorys, you can forget them for a while. But by trying to get rid of these memorys you'll just call on them more, because you're thinking about how you can stop thinking about them. The best way is to some how convince yourself that these memorys are nothing and worthless, that they are no big deal. If you can get that kind of mind frame you can focus on creating other memorys and get them to mean a big deal. Like get yourself busy doing things so that you are always thinking. But I hope you can succeed in finding the right mindframe. GL~ :)

I don't think flashbacks ever go completely away but you can with help from a good therapist who will support you sort out the fragments of memory, and put them together, I'm not saying this is easy as I've been there and it's taken me a long time to put it behind me. God does love you, you need to love yourself and I pray there will come a time when you will be able to accept that these are your memories and even though they are devastating they are a part of your journey and are a large part of who you are. I used to bang my head so hard on the wall when memories would come. Don't give up, hold on to hope, there is always hope. Good luck and God bless you.

sometimes you have to give in to the flashbacks and accept the information that they are giving you.
the best way to process thru the info is with a counselor. at the very least, you need a pyschologist with a PH.D. don't settle for less. meds can help, but sometimes they just cover up.
talking with someone you trust is great. writing down your thoughts can be helpful, too.
whatever happened in your past must have been terrifying. learn about the 5 Stages of Grief. before you can heal, you must complete them all -and not necessarily in order. when you can accept the hurt, you can heal and begin to live a life that you deserve.
at some point, you have to take responsibility for your emotions and thoughts. owning them is a great way to start. no matter what, you are entitled to feel whatever way you want about your past. don't let it overwhelm you. it gets better.

They can't be eliminated. The brain is like a giant filing cabinet, any memory can pop up at the most bizarre time.
Don't give upon yourself. God won't, Have you tried a psychologist or social worker?? (No drugs or off-the wall treatment) Yo find one, try calling the local hospital, a psychiatrists's office, or the psych dept of a local college.
But please, don't give up. A social worker helped me throug a recent problem, and all it took was a couple 1 hour session.
To your credit, you are trying, but just haven't
found the key to the right solution.
Goodluck to you. Post in a few weeke, let me know how you made out.,

Replace those negative thoughts and images with positive thoughts and images. This is probably one of the more effective methods you can use to help address this problem.
