Ordin: I wish I had enough points to give you a thumbs up. But anyway, I don't believe it makes people 100% irrational because it really depends on the principles set to follow.

It's not the religion that makes people irrational. The person who acts irrational does so not because of religion, but because they were irrational from the start.

Religion is just like any other belief system, and belief systems aren't all religious. There are many kinds of belief systems, such as the belief of being republican or democrate. Or the belief of feminism. Or the belief of Kinsy's idea or sexuality, the list goes on. People read what the media or people with PHD's say and those who are irrational will believe what ever they read simply because it makes them feel better, which is the bottom line for them even if they don't realize it. Logic goes competely out the window for them.

Many believe what they read simply because it 'Sounds' good, and don't actually rationalize logically if what they read is really fact...which is where the irrational behavior continues.

Religion doesn't even 'some people irrational'. Check Miji's response, "You can find irrational people everywhere...Religion is no exception. God is a God of order, and if someone is truly led by the Lord they will speak with a sound mind, courage, and a loving nature."

It absolutely 100% makes people irrational. Why? Well, because they have no ability to look at certain things that are considered middle grounds in terms of morality based on their religions. in other words, a non religious person can look at an action/policy/decision and say is this just right or is it wrong? A devout religious person is a sheep and does what their holy book or religious holy man/woman tells them their morals should be.

If by irrational you meant ability to talk to people about the factuality of religion based on rationality? Oh my GOD, lol. its pretty hard to have a "rational" discussion with someone that ends in because god can do anything, it is not meant for you to understand, do not question the lord. Watch here goes, what is 2 plus 2...it is not meant for you to understand. religion teaches you to stop asking questions while science begs its followers to better understand the universe.

yes.. and no... religion provides basic rules and standards one should live by (5 pillars 10 commandments etc) that is good and makes better people but sometimes religion can be bad because people will do irrational acts in the service of their god (or at least they belive they are) so my answer is as i said before yes and no

The religion is always rational and if not, not a religion. Islam can be tested by all means to find its ratio. Christians and Hindus who had no concept of divorce/remarriage or restriction upon unwed sexual activities are also accepting the Islamic ratio, make scope for divorce and dislike unwed sex. Hinduism does not allow inheritence succession rights to daughters and equality of all human beings, but now accepting it on par with Islamic ratio.
Muslims firmly believe and strictly practice the teachings/commands of their holy book Quran & their Prophet, which is their Code of Life at all times/places. They have the written, clear and unambiguous teachings to guide righteous or wrongs, pious or evil, fair or unfair, etc. Islam strictly forbids corruption, bribery, dishonesty, unwed sexual activities, telling a lie, theft, murder, injuring bodily/mentally, pre/extra marital sexual relations, inequality among people, etc. Islam commands rights of women, neighbors, animals, relatives, general public, etc. Muslims follow them blindly in matters of responsibilities, liabilities, rights, daily life, marriage, private & public relation, business, trade, earning & spending, etc. and do the righteous and refrain from bad. Anybody may read, satisfy, accept and practice it.

It depends on the person. I was a mess before I became born again. Now I lean on God and try to not stress about things too badly. If God is on my side, who can truly hurt me? I ma not the kind of Christian who beats on her Bible. I believe in the personal relationship with God not harassing people in His name.

That's kind of a chicken and egg problem. I would say it enables some already irrational people to stay irrational.

Not some - MANY. Or maybe MANY people just enter and soil the reputation of what once was good.
