It rings but can't be answered..it sneaks right through a wire...sometimes a pole..say i don't....but it does....What am I?

you are a confused person you don't but it does i think it is like one of those things that rings but can be answered and is connected to a wire and can sometimes have to do something with a pole and something you think your not but it is and you still dont know what it is but i think i do it could be a fax or an old school modem or a lot of other things you should maybe think of a question that has a narrower answer cool later
