i typed 2 dashes then create 1 line,how can i delete this line?

When you click the dashes three times and then click on Return it makes a line across the page. You can get rid of it by clicking the Backspace button and only the short line will remain. To prevent it happening, do what is called a 'Soft Return' when you type the dashes, hold the Shift key as you click the Return button and the line won't extend across the page.
