Thanks for the answers so far. My lips are bleeding-- blech! At least I don't have the plague?

Normally cracked and dry lips are a huge sign of dehydration. When you are sick your body is fighting ultra-hard to get better therefore using up your reserves. Therefore, bottoms up with the fluids!!

because when we have a cold or viral infection we will run a fever and this will dry out our lips. It takes all the moisture from our lips.

Has something to do with the Fever & dehydration. Our skin is our biggest organ and takes more water but it receives the benefits of water after every other organ. So you need to drink plenty!

You get dehydrated. Drink more water and try not to lick you lips and use vaseline on them at night.

Vitamin B deficiency. Take a B complex stress tab daily and it will go away

Use Lip balm or petroleum jelly to prevent your lips from chapping & increase your fluid intake. (- -,)
