Jesus had an Aramaic name, Yeshua eban Marian (AKA Yeshua iban Marion). However, the New Testament was written in Greek, thus they used a more Grecian spelling of the name. Greek men's names tended to end in 's', so the letter was added. In Greek, the letter J was a vowel, and was used in place of the Aramaic 'y' sound. Jesus would have been pronounced EE-AY-sus, having something similar to a 'y' sound at the beginning.

Jesus is a Greek form of the hebrew Yeshua, known to us as Joshua. The beginning of the book of Luke gives the account of how Jesus got His name.

If you must pry, Spanish was built off the Latin language, which was built off Greek. Whereas the Spanish adopted the name Jesus, the English form is Joshua. But "Jesus" is a transliteration of the Greek.

Jesus is a Latinized name. Mary and Joseph named Jesus something which unfortunately I can't spell; but phonetically is sounds like "Yahs-wa", the "Christianized" name is Joshua. The SPANISH name is pronounced "Hey-Zues". So, nope sorry to say they didn't name him after any gardener.

God told Mary through his angel that she would have a son and his name shall be called Jesus. He was Jewish. It is very disrespectful that hispanics name their children Jesus.
Take it up with God if you have a problem with it.
