For a long time the "best" has been held to be Jamaican Blue Mountain, with a very mild and delicate flavor. You want to be careful that you get it from a reputable source, though, as most of what's sold as JBM is actually not the real stuff. Another great one if you like milder coffees is Hawaiian Kona, especially some of the estate coffees. Celebes coffee is reputed to be from the same seed stock as Blue Mountain, though it's not as delicately flavored. There are some truly wonderful Mexican coffees with light, almost floral flavors. And I've always been partial to Guatemalan Antigua, though you can get some that's fairly boring sometimes.
Any of these is worth trying. I'd say if you like lighter coffees you'll have your best success with coffees from the Americas. From the Pacific only Hawaiian and Celebes are likely to please (and only if not roasted too darkly). African coffees can sometimes be nice and mild, but others are very heavy. Tanzanian and Arabian coffees are where I'd start there. What's the best in the world? It's different for everyone. I suggest trying as many as you can and choosing for yourself.
Regardless, if you want to get the most flavor out of a delicate coffee, I suggest using a French press to brew it. Heat the water to just below boiling and pour it over coarse grounds in the press, stir once and let it sit for about four minutes, then press the grounds to the bottom and enjoy. You'll get more sediment, but much more of the flavor will come through.

As far as I am concerned, Zimbabwe AA is the best of the moderately priced coffees. Get it in a medium roast. Haitian Bleu Voodoo is a interesting coffee. They took Jamaican Bleu plants to Haiti some years ago. The soil, climate, etc are different so the coffees don't taste the same. I like it for a change. You can find both at stores who sell Panache coffees.

Peet's Coffee is very smooth and very good. And there are different types of blends. I first saw it on the Oprah show and they were talking about how good it was, so I thought I'd give it a try. I get it at Savemart.
If you like flavored coffees... Don Fransisco's Vanilla Nut Coffee is very tasty. Once again at Savemart.
I also always use Carnations Vanilla Creamer to give the coffee that extra uuummmffff!
Good luck!

kona is good
Kona is in Hawaii they are in the specilised coffee catagory market because of consistant quality ,but other coffee is just as good and cheaper
I live in Coffee country in Mexico ,and we got just as good coffee here (which i drink all the time )but it is not famous ,that is the main difference
all coffee is basically the same ,
what happens after, is what determines the taste
the exact fermentation period ,how it was dried and how fast and how long it was toasted ,the best is just before the first crack ,that is mild and how i like it
for expresso ,they toast to befor the second crack ,which is too black and too bitter for my taste
kona is before or on the first crack.
the prices are determined by the number of containers the buyer gets at once and the prestige that the brand may or may not have
try Mexican coffee from guerrero ,see if you find Paraiso
it is ,very mildly toasted but unknown .
to buy Hawaiien is paying for the fame

If you have a Trader Joe's near you, try the Ethiopian Shade-grown coffee... it's wonderful! Not even my husband could make it taste bad, and he's the kind of guy who can make Folger's taste gourmet and gourmet taste like Folgers.
