I've been doing it for about the past 20 years or so and never had an issue, people often ask why my hair is so shiny... because I don't blow dry it, stress it and dry it out. I ring out my hair (its LONG so its easy), wrap it in a towel for about 10 minutes, comb it with a wide tooth comb, place a dry towel on my pillow, and crawl in bed. I like to read in bed first, so its usually half dry before I get to sleep. So I discard the towel.

I don't sleep in sub-zero temperatures so I'm not sure why people would think its going to make me cold or catch a cold easily. And I seldom suffer from bed head.

It's not a good idea especially when the weather is cold. You could catch a cold. Besides, you don't want to sleep on a wet pillow.

No. Its an old Doctors tale that it can cause colds. The hair will form to the shape of whatever you sleep on though.
