The Mayan calendar predicts the end of the world will occur on 2012.

They all died from wasteful use of resources and uncontrolled warfare.

I'm only just hearing about this recently - I feel really out of the loop! I think it stems from the Mayan calendar, which is thousands of years old and it stops on this date. Researchers don't know why and the Mayans said they could not see beyond this date, hence, the end of the world. The Mayans were incredibly technological and sophisticated - beyond what was thought possible in that time period, which gives added credibility to this. The Aztecs also believed this. In addition, there is a very rare planetary line up on the winter solstice, 21 December 2012 at 11.11 am which only occurs every 26,000 years.....

The Mayan calendar ends then. But, on a more optimistic note, some people also believe that this whole "prophesy" means that the world as we know it will end. That could mean anything. But like any prophesy, you can't dwell on it. Just take it with a grain of salt. And if the world ends - then it does.

It is based on the mayan prophecy or calendar that for some bizarre reason just ends on that date but think about it if you were making a calendar today and you made a few extras for the future how long would you make it last? I mean really, maybe they just couldnt finish it or they ran out of space to do it. Just like if you went on an internet site do you think the calendars they have are infinite? Would you need them to last forever, obviously not since we wont be htere then, I think people from the future could add to them dont you?

John: I'm on the same side of the fence, you are on ! No one knows exactly when the end of this age (not the world) will occur.
People being people, like to establish dates. In my 33 years as a Christian, I've seen and heard it "all" - believe me ! Date-setters are prone for a a hugh surprise when he or she subscribes to this. It seems that God is on a humanistic time-table, set up for Him to adhere to - or else ! I have seen people (Christians too) become all jaded and disenchanted about date setting when their pet theory disintegrates in his or her face. I take the more objective view on the course of this world. Of course, like the Scientists and their nuclear clock, I don't place too much "stock" in the future for this age we all live in ! Iran developing nukes, global warming, screwed-up weather patterns, flu pan-demics on the horizon - doesn't hold up to a bright future. BUT - as a Christian, I also believe in the return of Jesus Christ to this earth and His intervention into the affairs of mankind to establish a world-order of peace, abundance for all and real happiness found from within. I firmly believe, that in the end, we ALL will WIN !!!

Look up the Bible code, it's real and it says there is going to be something that happens (possibly an astroid) will end the earth. Also almost all the signs are finished and in order for Jesus to come back.

There is a propechy that the pope after this one we ahve now will be the last Pope, and the pope now could die anytime leaving us with our last pope.

The Aztec calendar also ends in 2012.

John,
We are told that no one will know the time that GOD has chosen. Even Jesus did not know that time. We are told that the time will come "like a theif in the night". There is nothing that can beat this. GOD's WORD is everything to each and every Christian that I know. Are you ready for that time to come? You certainly need to be.

Study these scriptures and see what you think. To become a Christian:
1. HEAR - Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
2. BELIEVE - In Mark 16:16, Jesus said “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.”
3. REPENT - Luke 13:3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.
4. CONFESS CHRIST - 1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
5. BE BAPTIZED - Romans 6:3-4 do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
6. CONTINUE TO BE FAITHFUL - Jesus said in Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.”
Send me a note if you have questions. I am anxious to hear from you. Have a Great day.

something to do with a mayan prophecy or something like that and supposedly everything that the mayans predicted came true so "everyone" is thinking that the world ending in december of 2012 will come true as well
