Tell me about your stereo system.
This question is just for fun, I'm hoping a lot of people will participate.

I like;
~ Long (on topic) detailed answers.
~ If they still sell the items, links to the item is nice.
~ If you remember what you paid, prices of the items is nice.
~ Links to photos of your stereo system would be nice.

I'll probably pick the stereo system I like best, but I may pick a stereo system I like less if it's a good post.

I have always been into audio systems so I will post on my bedroom system. It was a project that I tried to prove that you dont have to spend a brick load of money to make a good system. For starters I went and got a Yamaha HTR 5830 5.1 receiver ($169 on sale @ Best Buy) for mains I am using a pair of Polk Audio R50 towers ( ebay $225 including shipping) for the low frequency extension I am using a Polk Audio PSW303 8" sub ($179 Frys) for a small system it rattles the windows pretty good for surround Im using the Polk Audio R15 bookshelf speaker ($99 pr Circuit City) and for center the Polk Audio CSi25 ($109 ebay inc shipping) of course since its a theater set up the Tv is a Samsung 32" LCD LNS3251D ($1299 @ Circuit City) and for video Im using a Samsung DVDR300 DVD/VCR combo recorder ($199 @ circuit city) all for under $3K and it kicks *** even compaired to the living room system which consists of Pioneer, Velodyne, and Martin Logan. I cant wait till the theater room is completed Im going to install a completeTHX system with either M&K or JBL

OK I'll bite. I put this together between 1992 and 1994, just shows if you buy good stuff it will last and still have excellent performance.

In order of how it's stacked up right now.

Proton 440 Stereo Tuner- bought this new as old stock, had been in the back room in the box unopened but was 3 years old $80

Yamaha KX-230 Cassette Deck, hey tapes were still in then, I think it was about $200. Couldn't find a pic

Adcom GCD-575 CD Player, I think it retailed for about $600 and i bought it on sale for $500. All of my Adcom stuff i had to drive 4 hours to get it as it wasn't sold in my town. http://i12.ebayimg.com/07/i/000/8c/8e/540e_1.JPG

Adcom GFP-555II Pre Amp. Some where in the neighborhood of $450. http://www.irata.com/fs/adcom_front.jpg

Audio Control C-101series III octave equalizer with real time spectrum analyzer. I had a local stereo shop order this and it was near $500. It's nice, came with a calibrated mic, plays pink noise so you can adjust the EQ to your room. I also take it out and Tune cars with it. Ever have a car stereo that just seems to be missing something or is a little over powering in some frequency range. This will show you where the peak or dip is, very cool. I couldn't find a pic.

Adcom GFA-555II Amplifier I paid $800 this amp kicks ***, don't let the watt's misslead you. The car stereo world has distorted the perception of wattage in amplifers. It has 200w per channel in to 8ohm, 380w per channel at 4ohms, mono bridgeable 1000w at 2ohms. Real power takes a huge power supply, it weighs a ton. http://www.aheadstereo.com/images/usedproduct/adcomgfa555II.JPG

Dahlquist DQ30i Speakers, they were listed at $1000 each, i paid $1700 for the pair new. Very smooth.
Can't find a pic
