i'm a highschool student in NYC..
looking for a place for birthday party.
nothing too fancy or too expensive.
just clean, and a place where we can talk and laugh freely...
even a restaurant can do..
somewhere that has a good atmosphere....
thanks.....it's pretty urgent

A fun place might be Ellen's Stardust Diner, it's in midtown, around 54th and 7th Ave, I think. Not just a diner. The waitstaff all want to be actors and do take breaks to sing. Place is great.

John's Pizza on Bleecker at Thompson or Puglia's on Mott near Grand. Both great, cheap, fun and they won't care if you get loud.

A place called Stone Creek. They have a big back room that you can reserve and you and your party will get great service all night.
