-) Set your screensaver to blank & 5 min of inactivity. This saves more energy than the default 10 & a blank screen uses less than a lighted screen showing who knows what.

-) Use a laptop with the above enabled, if you have one, setting it as your main desktop if possible. They use less than a full size.

-) Use lower wattage lights when possible, & use really dim lighting to the bathroom for night-time visits, those lcd 2 inch screens or something. They use very little power, & are good to keep you from falling at night on the way to the potty.

-) Use & buy appliances that are energy star labeled, as the use less power to do the same job.

-) Do you really need 5,000 watts of home stereo power? Use less when you can, say 25 or 50 watts will still sound good & be plenty loud in most cases.

-) Try to plan for getting most things done during the day, so night time you can go to sleep & avoid burning power at night when possible.

-) Don't run water when brushing teeth. Only use it when you must.

-) Limit showers to 5 to 15 min, instead of 2 hours. You can't get but just so clean.

-) Schedule things instead of weeks, by the month where possible. Is your carpet really gonna grow cornstalks because of the dirt if you don't vacuum it every single day?

-) Don't use hot water unless you have to. Try warm or cool where possible.

-) Seal areas around windows & doors with something to insulate them. This can save you as high as 20% or more in some cases, where cracks are large enough.

-) Use central AC/Heat & use a magnetic vent cover to seal off rooms you don't even need to heat or cool.

-) Use electric blankets at night when its cold, instead of having the central system always on.

-) Use fans in the summer when it isn't so hot, instead of the ac. It's cheaper & works good if it isn't too hot.

These are but some tips. Hope they help!

Turn off water heater. Use point of use/ on demand. Use a lcd monitor. Probably lcd tv. My old rear projection tv uses 350 watts. To me thats a lot. My 27 uses 71 watts. I put a fresnel lens in front of it for big screen. Dont watch too much tv. Turn down heat. Work out to warm up. Combine car errands. Run with the lawnmower. Get a geo metro car. Gets 50 mpg. Where in the heck did those cars go? Seal house. Ever hear of ISO standards? Its about quality improvement. Analyze and improve. Its an ongoing challenge.

The two main ones are ,
1.DRIVE as little as possible and if you do drive drive a high mile per gallon car.
2.The other one is to use wind power from your utility for your electricity and heating needs. (No carbon dioxide greenhouse gases.)

All the other little tips are minor in comparison.
