Looking for an online translator.

I know that Babelfish.altavist.com and Google Translate will process Katakana to English (roughly) but they won't accept Romaji.

Okay, I think I figure it out:

There is no *DIRECT* translator from Romaji to English, however I found a way to translate Romaji to Katakana

http://www.jisho.org/
the sentence field will accept Romaji, and on the search window, just ignore the results and look up at the search field - it will be Katakana!

After that you can use
http://babelfish.altavista.com
and use the japanese to english translator.

Why they don't just integrate this function is beyond me...

Anyone have a better way?

It's a bit off, with some spelling errors as well as a tense issue with your first 'desu.' It should be something like Kinou ame ga futteimashita, kanashikatta. Demo kyou wa shiawase desu. Translation: Yesterday it was raining; I was sad. But today I'm happy. Maybe I'd add a kara after futteimashita, to change the meaning to, "Yesterday I was sad because it was raining. But today I'm happy." *Edit: lfjakldfd ah, GD173 is right about the kanashikatta thing. It's been ages since I've spoken Japanese. >_<;;

1) Find a Romaji>Hirigana>Katakana>Kanji Converter...or Conversion Chart to try all possible (i.e. Hirigana, symbol differences) conversions to test out by search.

or

2) Stick with your Romaji, search for a "Romaji Dictionary" and try out several of these, in case one one doesn't work as well.
