I've always compared the Maxima to a Honda Accord; but when I went to the Nissan dealership, he compared it to an Acura TL...I am not sure if this is true, or just sales talk, but what do you compare the Maxima to? And is it good for a 24 y/o? Or should I get something else?

Nissan probably thought the Altima is in the same market as the Accord and Camry, while the Maxima compares to the Acura TL and the Lexus ES. But they forgot they have their own premier brand, Infiniti (G35 sedan would compare to the Acura and Lexus).

I think in reality, the Maxima is slightly over Accord and Camry in terms of class, while the Altima is slightly under them. Maybe you can compare the Maxima to the Toyota Avalon?

I don't know how much they're selling the Maxima, but I would imagine it getting close to the price tags of TL and G35. Maybe you should check them out and see for yourself?

Just FYI, the Accord will be redesigned in 2008, Avalon & TL in 2009, and the Maxima & G35 are newly redesigned this year (so their looks will probably last longer).

Nissan Maxima should be compared to a Honda Accord or Toyota Camry. The Acura compares to Infiniti and Lexus's.

I wouldnt go with Acura, they have started making garbage past few years! The Maxima is closer to the Accord. It's good for a 24 y/o as long as you don't get padded seat belts and drive 15 miles under the speed limit. Thats for Ford owners
