I have been friends with this guy for a year. The past few months he has been pursuing a relationship. He has told me he loves me, wants me to love him, can't stop thinking about me and he has written me several letters saying he can't stop loving me and wants more but doesn't want to pressure me. He speaks only Spanish, yet I speak English and Spanish so it works. I understand generally Latinos are generally more affectionate, he is always trying to kiss and hug and very touchy and has said "you are too beautiful for me" and "te amo" and "te quiero mucho" and I know "te amo" is pretty serious. I care about him SO much, and I fell for him a long time ago. I am saving myself for marriage so it concerned me because he isn't a virgin and I know it's hard to wait. I told him basically there was no chance of me having sex with him right now because I am waiting. He has told me over and over again that he isn't interested in my body or sex but loves my heart.

I think he is so amazing and I love him a lot, but I really don't want to get hurt. I've told him exactly how I feel. There was a huge misunderstanding a month ago that was neither of our faults and I thought I could never talk to him again. He took the effort to talk to me and work things out and tell him how much he cared. I think this shows he is a kind person and I would think if he wanted only sex he would have gone elsewhere already. The only thing is my friends/family don't approve--partly because he only speaks Spanish and works a blue collar job, and I go to University. It's a stupid reason, I don't care about his job, I love him and care about him. What should I do??
Any advice, opinions and criticism is appreciated.
If he has had sex do you think he could wait or no??
Thank you!! :)

I understand how you feel, because I'm a virgin too but my boyfriend is not.
But the thing is,it doesn't matter what he had done in the past.
If he really loves you and willing to change, you can always be sure that he wants the best for you.
So even if he's not a virgin, just love him for who he is.

Seems like a nice a guy, when you're sure he is really the one who loves you and care for you then don't worry too much about sex thing, he'll wait as long as it takes, when you love someone you do things which at first may look not possible, atleast i did. Don't take what colour of colour his job is too seriously, let things go slow and smooth, by the sound of it i would say don't let him go just coz of some trival issue like the language or profession, its very hard to find someone who loves you for who you are, rather then for some reason like sex. Good luck....

If he really really cares about you and loves you the same way you love him, than he will not pressure you to have sex with him, he will respect you decision. When a guy says te amo it doesnt really mean he want to have sex with you now, its more of a way letting you know he loves you in a communicating way, not meaning I want to have sex. Remember good things happen for those who wait, so dont pressure yourself in doing something you are not ready to do. If he really really cares about you, he would DEFINITELY respect your decision, if he doesnt want to wait, he is only thinking for himself.

If he really loves you, he'll understand. Just explain to him the reasons you want to wait until marriage. If he says he can't wait he's just being an insensitive jerk and you should move on. Don't ever do anything you don't feel comfortable with just to please someone else. You'll only get hurt and he'll most likely despise you for it. Be strong and good luck!

Girl, i'm the same way. I'm saving myself for marriage, too. All i can say is that if he really loves and cares for you, he will respect it completely and you'll know. This discussion will be over and will never bug you about it unless you talk about it. Just stay strong to your morals!

I think you should go for it.. date him it sounds like he really cares about you and doesn't care about the sex.. and if he care about you he will wait. It doesn't matter what other say it how you feel and if you love him back! Take a risk

Yes, of course he can wait. Sex isnt something you cant live without.Besides sex is something intended for marriage. If he loves you as much as he says he does, then he should be able to respect your wishes and and wait, if he cant except that then he is obviouly not the one.

I think that he could wait for you without any problems at all.. he is sticking around where most guys wouldn't and he sounds like a sweet heart.. you should consider yourself lucky and just be with him.. don't worry about things that most likely won't happen anyways and just worry about the right now.. enjoy him...

It's difficult to say. In my experience as well, Latinos have appeared to be extremely affectionate with the girls. They fall sooo in love. I don't know if that would make it easier for him to respect your wish to wait or harder. You will probably have to give it a try and see if he starts to lean into persuading you. Stay strong. Buena suerte.
