We rarely find anyone who can say he has lived a happy life, and who, content with his life, can retire from the world like a satisfied guest.

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand - strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a ride!"

I always liked the old Arabic proverb, "Trust in God, but tie your camel."

I have quote-o-rama bookmarked (first link below). Some are hit or miss, but here's a good one:

Beauty is truth, truth beauty. That is all ye know in this world, and all ye need to know. ~John Keats

My favorite quote of all time:

"...I have always lived violently, drunk hugely, eaten too much or not at all, slept around the clock or missed two nights of sleeping, worked too hard and too long in glory, or slobbed for a time in utter laziness. I've lifted, pulled, chopped, climbed, made love with joy and taken my hangovers as a consequence, not as a punishment. I did not want to surrender fierceness for a small gain in yardage." --John Steinbeck, "Travels With Charley"

Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment. Even the very wise cannot see all ends.

This is my favorite quote ever:

Frodo: I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.
Gandalf: So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world Frodo, besides the will of evil.

One night i had a dream.
I as walking on the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark skies flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two set of footprints in the sand.
one belong to me and one to my Lord.
When the last scene of my life flashed before me.
I look back at the footprints in the sand to my surprise,
I noticed that many times along the path of my life
the was only one set of footprints.
I realized that this was at the lowest and saddest
times of my life.
This always bothered me.
and i questioned the Lord
about my dilemma.
"Lord, you told me when i decided to follow you,
You would walk and talk with me all the way.
But I'm aware that during the most troublesome
times in my life there is only one set of footprints.
I just don't understand why, when i needed You most,
You leave me"
He whispered " MY precious child,
I love you and will never leave you
never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set or footprints
it was then that i carried you"
