The word "trinity" does not exist in the Holy Bible or any Bible. Do you know where the word trinity originated from?
If Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit are one...then why does Jesus refer to hisFATHER while praying? He couldn't be praying to himself could he? That wouldn't make sense.

This is a great and difficult question. For the first part I would guess/say that the word "trinity" was made up so that whenever you wanted to refer to all three you wouldn't have to say, "The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit."

For the second part; yes, it is confusing because they are all one in the same. But what I think is that each one exists for every part of your faith. What I'm saying is that you have God: the father figure in your life that you can truly count on and look up to for guidance. You also have Jesus: the one who is a constant friend in your life, someone that you can also trust in and count on, a friend who you can always talk to, a friend who cares so much for you that he died for you. And finally you have the Holy Spirit. Now it is hard for me to explain the Holy Spirit because I'm not that advanced in my faith. I believe that you first get to know Jesus, because he is more "laid back," easier to talk to. Once you get to know Jesus you eventually get to know his Father God, and you develop a relationship with him as well.("No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6) And after that you have the Holy Spirit.

So, Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit are one in the same yet they are separate in the fact that each one serves a different purpose for you faith.

I hope this helped.

This question has been asked many times. How come nobody ever reads the answers and keeps asking the same question?
The name for God in Hebrew is a pleural word not singular. We get the idea of the Trinity from the revelation of God through His Word. Though the word "Trinity" is not found in Scripture, it conveys the Being of God, as distinguished from 'gods many and lords many.' We therefore speak of the Lord our God, who is One Lord, as a Trinity or as one Being of three persons, which is absolutely scriptural (examples, Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14 and John 14:16,17). God has revealed Himself as embodying the principles of relationship and association as Father, Son and Holy Ghost (Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 43:10,11 and Matthew 28:19 and Luke 3:22). They are one in unity, purpose, will and essence but they are three in office work. So when Jesus prayed to the Father - God the Son was speaking to God the Father. Different offices but one Essence, Will and Purpose. Ever see a triangle? Picture a triangle with the Father at the top, the Son on the bottom left point and the Holy Ghost on the bottom right point of the Triangle and then in the center of the Triangle the word "GOD" - then draw a line from the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost into the center of the triangle ending at the word God. Then on the outside of the triangle draw a line between each person of the trinity and write on that line "Is Not" and you will get a pretty good diagram of the Godhead.

The trinity does not exist in the Bible. Most people who claim to believe in the trinity don't fully know what it is. They feel that to say the Father, Son and holy spirit are God is what the trinity is all about. But there is MUCH more to the trinty than that.

According to the Athanasian Creed, which the trinity is based on: "So there is One Father, not Three Fathers; one Son, not Three Sons; One Holy Ghost, not Three Holy Ghosts. And in this Trinity none is afore or after Other, None is greater or less than Another, but the whole Three Persons are Co-eternal together, and Co-equal."

Is there any scripture in the Bible that says the Father, Son, and holy spirit are co-equal, co-eternal and almighty? No. Trinitarians will still try to use the Bible to prove their point. Here are a few of their "proofs."

John 10:30--"I and the Father are one." Can you see 3 co-equal persons making up one God here? No. It doesn't even mention 3 persons. Only 2.

John 1:1--"and the Word was God." Do you see 3 co-eternal persons making up one God here? No. Again, only 2 persons are mentioned.

At Matt. 28:19, the Father, Son, and holy spirit are all mentioned in the same verse. But does it say they are all co-equal, co-eternal, and almighty AND that they make up one God? Not even close.

The trinity did not become "Christian" until sometime after the Council of Constantinople in 381 CE. That was over 300 years after Jesus' death.

In reality, Jehovah is the Most High God. (Ps. 83:18) He is the ONLY true God.(John 17:3) Jesus Christ is the Son of God.(John 10:36) The holy spirit is God's active force or power. (Gen. 1:2)

When God created the universe, Jesus, the Word was with Him. During creation, the Holy Spirit was the creating force.

When God came to the earth as the man, Jesus. He was made in the form of a human baby and Joseph, Mary's fiance, was told to name Him Jesus.

Jesus is God and man. He is the Son of God in that He was perfect and being God, the only blood sacrifice possible for the forgiveness of all sin.

The Holy Spirit is God, because Jesus sent His Spirit to guide us and He raised Jesus from the dead. We are told to be filled with God's Holy Spirit.

God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are all three persons but, they are also, all God.

At this time God is in Heaven. Jesus is seated at His right hand. The Holy Spirit is here with us as our comforter and to lead us.

There are many things about God that we cannot yet understand. He tells us in Corinthians that when we see Him face to face, we will understand.

Yes, trinity just means 3 in one. Like an egg. You have the shell, the yolk and the white to make one egg.
Think of it this way. A person can be one person, yet have different functions. For example a woman can be a mother, a wife and a daughter all at the same time. Each role has a different purpose but she is still the same person. Same with God. There is God the Father(Omnipitent), God the Son(sacrifice) and the Holy Spirit (comforter), make three in one. God the son was praying to God the Father. In a sense yes praying to himself but the part of him that had the function of Father. It takes faith to believe the mysteries of God. One day we will fully understand.

Imagine this:

!) a 55 gallon drum
2) a pitcher for liquids
3) an empty coffee cup

Now, say the drum is God, then the pitcher would be Jesus, and the cup is you.

Father (drum), son (pitcher) and holy ghost (cup)

Noone comes to the father except through the son. So the holy spirit resides in you as a result of being filled with the holy spirit by means of Christ. Christ is of the father. All vessels contain the same thing yet all 3 are different vessels.

I hope this helps you.

Your right the word "trinity" is not found in any Bible. The Christian that areTrinitarian finds hard to under the term, but accept what's given. My understanding is word comes from Latin trinitas-threefold. To my very own opinion it is not confusing. God the father, creator of heaven and earth, God the son, our lord Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit. They are separate beings, but one God! Why one God?

God tells us that their lives are not base on ours. The son grows up and leaves the family and maybe start his own. This not the case with God. The three remain together or together as one family. Therefore, Jesus Christ won't say.

"I am going to start my own world"

They remain together. Therefore, you are right again, Jesus couldn't be praying to himself! He is praying to God.
The Trinitarianism can be complex to a lot of people. If you ask the Holy Spirit to guild the understanding He will!

God Bless

People say Jesus is God. Can God have a god? If God can have a God, then God isn't the Big Cheese God, right? Jesus was not God, because he prayed to God. Neither did he ever say he was God.

Jesus OBEYED God. Does God obey? No, God is the Ruler and Creator and Designer of all. God created obedience, so how can God be bound to obey? Jesus was not God, because he obeyed God. Jesus was not God's equal.

God is omnipresent (God is everywhere), omnipotent (all powerful, and omnicious (knows all). Was Jesus absolutely everywhere? No, he was only where his physical body was. Did Jesus know all? No, Jesus taught what God taught, he didn't speak of himself, but spoke what God commanded him to speak. Did Jesus know all? No, because he prayed to God for His Will. He asked God to be released from crucifixion if it be His will. Now, if Jesus was God, he would have already known God's will, because he'd be God. Was Jesus all powerful? No, any miracles that were performed, were done by God. Jesus was only a vessel. Jesus was not omnipresent, omnicious, and omnipotent. He was not God.

To answer your question, no, the trinity doesn't exist.

ONE God. Perod.

I personally, like many another believer, have long wondered about the mysterious relationship between the Manifestation of God and God Himself. Shoghi Effendi teaches that the Bahá'í Trinity, God, the Holy Spirit and the Prophet, is like the Sun, the ray and the mirror. 'The mirror never becomes the sun, or the ray the mirror, or the sun the ray.'
