I have a problem when I deer hunt. I go out into the woods and get into my blind or tree stand and get comfortable. After about an hour, I get bored and I fall asleep.

I made a product that has a wireless, battery operated motion detector that is fastened to a tree. It can be set up to 400 feet away. The detector senses any movement within 40 feet and send a signal back to a small receiver I keep in my shirt pocket. It is connected to a small ear bud makes a chirping sound when something sets off the motion detector.

I've just finished making it and haven't field tested it yet. I'm just seeing if there would be a market for something like this. I would sell the set for about $40 each with additional motion detectors going for $20 each.
Would you buy something like that? Also, does anyone know of any corporation that would buy an invention like that?
Thanks.

I'm certain your product has many a practical application. I'm not sure you can patent it (as it appears to be a motion detector) but I would certainly apply for a patent. After filing my application I would contact people like Academy. Draft a really good promotion letter describing your product and its benefits. Include the language: "Patent applied for; or patent pending." Dream up a really catchy name for your device like, "Hunting Buddy, or Blind Companion," and you're good to go.

I certainly would use it. Once a Bobcat surprised me by trying to get into a hunting blind with me. Yup, I'd drifted off to sleep.

Hell man I know a guy who has a hand held forward looking infrared camera (FLIR) and he has tested it in the woods. He hasn't used it to help take an animal but you can see heat from any animal at 100 yards easy. The technology is nice. Just scan a 360 every 5 or 10 minutes. And you'll see them coming. It would also be useful chasing a blood trail.

Your idea sounds good but motion detectors are easily set off and they have a fixed field of view. Would work on the same principle as the one on game cameras if you had a specific trail or spot to watch.

in the event that they are coming to yo9ur spot then the question is whilst are they coming. you are able to placed out a recreation digicam and you will locate out rather rapid. that should be my suggestion. Be exciting to comprehend what the greenback looks like this is working those scrapes too. additionally, a hundred and forty acres isn't plenty. If there is distinctive searching stress surrounding the section the deer are probable moving at evening.

Great idea .......I dont fall asleep deer hunting but i do like to hog hunt at night down here in Tx we hog hunt year round mostly at night it would work better thou if had it to set off on heat (thermal energy) just like my new game-cam. Just on movement you get alot of false readings, wind blowing hard, bird flying by......but hunting at night it would help so you woulnt have to shine at every noise..check out thermal thing

if you are sleeping, should you be holding a loaded weapon? I think any responsible company would refuse to distribute your alarm for that intended use. It would detect the motion of other hunters and as it is there are too many fatalities from hunters shooting without being fully aware of what or who thay are killing.

I think you are irresponsible in advocating such a device. A better solution is to not eat for a couple of days before the hunt. In the years where man had to hunt to survive, falling asleep was not an option or he would starve. Your ancestors would laugh at you for being so lazy. If you are out to kill, that should be your focus. If you are out for a nice nap in the woods, leave your rifle or bow home.

These alarms already exist as covert tactical alam systems used by military and law enforcement and are available for purchase without license on the internet.

Also in most states, even though it is customary, it is ILLEGAL to hunt in the dark. Thermal imaging and night vision is also available through these same tactical outfitters, but if you are caught with this equipment while in possession of a loaded gun, you will spend several years behind bars explaining your next great idea to your cell mate bubba.

That's a very good idea. It does sound familiar but you can try selling the idea to a corporation or manufacture it yourself. Get a patent first!

Thats clever.
It may wll already have been done, though.
The idea seems vaugely familiar, but I can't remember where I've heard of such a device.
It wouldn't hurt to check with the U.S. patent office.
You may have a winning idea there.
Good luck, and yes, I'd use it.
(I tend to nod off as well.)
