My man has gone to see the therapy for one year. He just talks to the therapy about things. I don't understand why??? Why do people continue to go to see the therapy? Do you think that he has a lot of problems. I am afraid to ask him. One more question, what does mental therapy mean? Thank you.

I allways thought that therapy was for sissy's and allways laughed at the thought of it.But then one day i got into a terrible car accident and it turned out i needed help so i went to therapy and all i can say now is that no bad can ever come from someone going to therapy ..your husband is going because he cares about you and his mental health..You should support him and be there for him when he talks to you no matter what the subject be even if you are not interested. He obviously has problems from his past he needs help with and also you should see about joining him in his therapy if that is something he wants to share with you ..if not don't be mad just supportive.

Therapy is very theraputic for a person! It gives you a chance to talk to some one about issues and problems in their lives and how to deal the best way in a situation. Not all people have a person they can trust, that has the knowledge and the best thought of answers. Therapists are trained well with lots of knowledge. I am not saying they always know what's best because they don't always know! But once you go to see them and they see things thru your eyes they can start to relate and give you good tips and helpers for healthy relations. Some times people have childhood trauma and etc. and he just needs a extra ear. Maybe you could get involved in his therapy too. I have seen a therapist and I am getting back into it. My daughter is 11 and sees a therapist. Her dad and I divorced when she was 8 mos. old and it affects her that he isn't more of a dad, etc. Therapy usually goes hand in hand with medication. Good luck to you and your man, and try to be supportive of his therapy decisions,

You can solve a lot of problems by talking to a person who is trained to see patterns of behavior, choices in relationships. You can relieve stress, learn how to avoid future problems, and there is a great benefit to unloading your worries to someone who knows how to solve them.

Mental therapy is talking with a psychologist or therapist, defining a presenting problem, fashioning a solution, and monitoring growth.

You are supposed to see things in others that you dont see in yourself either from denile or blocking it out.
AA is the same. I found I didnt need it once I got xanax to have with me and take as needed.
