Is it more logical to be a Christian? Not according to a broad consensus of studies on IQ and religiosity. These studies have consistently found that the lower the IQ score, the more likely a person is to be religious.

What do you think :)

The studies make sense to me. The more intelligent a person is, the more likely it is that he has done a proper analysis of religion -- and found it wanting.

I've known quite a few intelligent Christians. But those who are seem to be very accepting of evolution, accepting of science, they view the bible as moral stories and not fact, and they actually attempt to practice the tenants of their religion (i.e. be a good person) rather than just talking about it without backing it up in their own behavior. I have heard that the higher the IQ, the less a person is likely to be religious. The data, IMO, is likely correct. But like all things like that, there are always exceptions to any rule.

If you want to see logic and religiousness go hand in hand, Read the Summa Theologica, by Thomas Aquinas, a Catholic Saint. It can logically prove the existence of God, and many other things.

Most of Earth's most brilliant minds have been religious too.
Just do some research on Newton, Darwin, Aquinas, Aristotle, Descartes, and all the rest.

"There are too many 'religious' people who become religious precisely to avoid having to think," writes the dean of a theological seminary in the United States. "They simply want to accept everything 'on faith,'" he adds.

The implication is that most people who profess religious faith give little thought to why they believe what they do or to whether there is a reasonable basis for their faith.

It is no wonder that religion has become a topic that many are reluctant to talk about ...".

False Christianity --very much in the majority-- does not require much of anything from its followers.

True Christianity, on the other hand, requires that each follower inspect, compare, & make sure that all accepted beliefs are harmonious with both the Bible in all its parts, & each other.

It is Not fair to lump the effects of following True Christianity,
with the effects of following the False!

I honestly don't think one has to do with another. I believe in God, I'm not religious in any sense and I'm smart. Well, my mom tells me I'm smart. lol Anyhow, I guess it does take a lapse in logic to have faith in something you don't see. I wouldn't say an idiot is only religious but I have found my fair share of morons in religious settings. It's only when people rely on religion only instead of science & facts that they become ignorant. You can't disregard logic all the time. I don't think God wants that either.

Most of us do not choose our religion , we are born in it , i
inherited through our parents. I f we can inherit wealth ,why not religion? after all the core of every religion is the same, leads one to the path of truth, teaches one to care for the humanity, and the world at large. If your religion does not give you enlightenment, then you have not understood the religious beliefs. Ask God to enlighten you with deeper knowledge of your religion.I will pray for you.

Well I do have a high IQ and I'm not religious. But, I am a follower of Jesus. I do believe that He is God's only begotten Son and that He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He is my friend and my Savior.

I fail to see a correlation between intellect and religion. Religion is just as man-made as the chair you are sitting in!

Faith is an entirely different subject, and defies 'scientific' scrutiny.

not sure if high IQ measures anything more than one's ability to ace an IQ test

but it's sort of obvious to me that smart people are more curious = more skeptical
