You could roll with it? Using both blue and orange, which are excitable together, as a contrasting color pairing, is a brave move. But if you are that brave, you could actually mix and match all the shades of blue and orange, and they will work because all the shades will clash, and that becomes the harmony of the situation. In other words, no one mismatch becomes any worse than the other.
So seek out pumpkin, peach, apricot, terra cotta, tangerine, even neon if you like, and with a little of everything, they will mush together and just read "orange".
Same with blue, go with royal, navy, baby, wedgewood, teal, turquoise, etc. and they will mush together and read as "blue".
So don't try so hard to match, instead aim for a little of all the tones. If you deliberately look for the variety, whoever sees your design will know that you did it on purpose.
You do want to keep it from being too busy or over the top or chaotic. You can do this by keeping patterns to a minimum, and using the same patterns throughout the space. You might do stripes, for example, in a few places, but if you go stripes, don't try to mix in floral or paisley or dots or plaids.
Another whole different way to mix the to is aim to match but when you can't do it, just use small touches of the odd color. Or use neutrals (blacks, grays, whites) for the accessories where you might have more trouble matching...and develop your color scheme with PAINT where you can get it to match anything.
Hope it goes well.

Absolutely! use various shades of the orange and the secret is follow your instincts, red and also yellow are excellent accent colors. You'll know when you have it right. Remember in all of your training, they can offer their techniques and ideas, but in the end it is you (the artist) that will decide what is beautiful and right or wrong in your application.
