I think you can subtract without using formulas but I think the formulas are easier to use. =(10-5) is an example. Once you have the formula and you have to use it for other problems, just click on the cell with the formula, then click on the right lower edge of the highlighted cell and drag down to the other cells and and the calculations will automatically be done without having to do the calculation one at a time. I hope I explained it well for you, I haven't use excel in a while.

To do this without a formula you need to use Copy/Paste Special.

Suppose you want to subtract 10 from a range of numbers.
Type in a 10 in a cell.
Right click on the cell and choose copy.
Select the range of numbers that you want to subtract.
Right click on the range.
Select Paste Special...
Select the Subtract option.

All the numbers will be reduced by the number copied.

Hope this helps.

G'day,

In one cell do this:
1. Type = (equal sign)
2. Click the cell where you want the first value to subtract from
3. Type - (minus sign)
4. Click the cell where you want the second value to subtract from
5. Press Enter key.

Voila! Hope this helps and good luck.

The only way without entering into the formula box would be to assign a negative to your subtrahend.

Hope this helps

without a formula? I don't think there's another option but '+a1-a2' unless you want to program a macro that does it any certain amount of time or something.
