They can miscarry, but more often than not they never conceived. Female dogs often go through false pregnancies, where they look and act like they are pregnant but they are not.

Depends if you got paid for stud service. I ask for 100.00 down and 300 when the puppies are born. But a lot of breeders get the money up front for the same reason as here. They can get scammed. To answer your question yes they can miscarriage the word is Absorb their puppies. This can happen when she is stressed etc. Some say that when there are a lot of dogs around like in a kennel she will absorb them thinking she is keeping them safe. Very rare but it does happen. I don't think you will ever know unless he took his dog to a vet..as he should have.

I had a dog that absorb her babies once. The vet said maybe the puppies weren't developing right. She said many things could have caused this to happen.

Yes all animals can miscarry I had a siberian husky and she was pregnant well she miscarried and I will tell you something who ever wrote that a dog miscarries because it is miss treated is not always true because our dog was treated like a princess fed all the time and she still miscarried so don't jump to conclusion. If you have proof that this person is mistreating the dog report them, but in fact if you don't know for sure watch your tongue around them. Humans miscarry but does that mean that they are taking good care of themselves NO.

I am not sure if this helps but just today I was watching the People's court and and the plaintiff was suing because he claimed the defendants dog was the cause of his dog's miscarriage. He claimed the vet was unable to determine unless they did a sonogram and only if any of the litter was still in utero. So I assume it is possible.
