This web site shows everything you need to know about personalized plate requirements in NY. Looks to me like you can have up to 8 letters if it's a passenger car, but if it's a motorcycle you can only have 6.

The site also tells you how to order your plate and see if the combination you want is available. I hope you get the one you want!

the appropriate customized plates i've got seen belong to an criminal expert with a super humorousness...... SHYSTER. The runner up is LIBSDAVE (nicely, i'm going to be, that is Dave). i've got seen a super sort of clever plates...and a super sort of incredibly "uncreative" plates. for my section, i'd by no ability have customized plates...it must be a "interest probability" for me...i'm a private Investigator. Kinda stressful to be inconspicuous if my plates have been PI GRL. :) related to value... customized plates many times run approximately $50-a hundred greater desirable than widely used plates, finding on your region. Many states additionally supply "fabulous" plates that earnings charities (maximum cancers study, companion and infants violence prevention, and so on) or identity the owner as a member of a set/business enterprise, and so on. (Masonic inn, Disabled Veteran, and so on).

You can get up to six letters / numbers providing you don't get a specialty plate with something on the left border such as a regional fiqure such as a sailboat, wine country, NASCAR, baseball, basketball, football etc.

I'm not sure, but don't get your heart set on something as it has already been taken. I tried many different things to get a vanity plate I liked, and they were all used. Call the d.m.v. And ask if yours is in use already.

I don't know if its the same in NY, but the AZ DMV website tells you. The one out here actually lets you put your idea into a search engine and will let you know if someone already has it, if its too long, etc.
