Premium scotches, whiskies go in snifters...as well as drambuie, cognac, after dinner sambuca etc etc..
Rum is served in a rocks glass ( short & stout based glass )...the same glass you'd serve a basic mixed drink in Iike rum/coke, rye/ginger etc..they're usually used for two (or less) ingredients.

Neat is a way of serving-not chilled....snifter---straight-up is chilled and a shot glass will do

I just always thought of rum as being served in a cocktail of some sort. I've never seen anyone drink it straight.
