surround yourself with good friends and forget about the "don't think about him" part..... there is a reason why you are so heart broken.... and pretending you think about him isn't the answer....
write him a letter.... you don't have to give it to him.... but write down EVERYTHING you wish you could tell him.... and then burn it or throw it away.... writing things down is sooooooo helpful.... it gets ALL of the good and hurtful feelings out of your body..... just like talking about it or crying.... trust me - it will help.
Also.... give yourself some time..... be patient.... you didn't fall in love with him over night.... so don't expect to be over him over night either!

NO matter what anyone says...your first love will always have a piece of your heart, you will always love that person to a certain extent. I lost my first love, also my fiance, two years ago. But now I see that we are better of as friends...Now I have found an incredible guy and I know that everything happens for a reason...so it might be tough at first, but hang in there, an even better guy is going to come around!

You never will. They will ALWAYS have a piece of your heart no matter what. I lost my first love about 3 years ago, and it took me about a full year to finally stop crying about it. I'll always miss him, but people change and you'll realize that there are other people out there. Things happen for a reason. You'll be ok, really.

just remember all the good times you had with them, and remember why you broke up, maybe this is for the better, and also cry, be angry, grieve and then move on. if you dont heal and move on, you will become bitter and full of hate and it will eventually destroy you, as well as any chances at future relationships because you will still be hung up on your first love and what they did to you and how they hurt you and how people and love suck. you will only be setting yourself up to fail.

Courage Time and keep yourself busy.
We all experience it and more than once. The good news is your prince charming is out there, you just need to kiss a few frogs before finding him.

Cry Cry Cry, talk to friends, push the memories out of your mind, move forward and don't look back. It's hard. Just don't listen to sad songs, you'll get depressed.

If you want to be able to love again, you have to let it hurt. Acknowledge when it hurts.
