I have been given several talents but am unaware how I should use them.

The first of which, is a gift for music. I love to sing and can sing well (or so I've been told). I can also rearrange hymns to make accompaniments on my computer for my mother, who can sing better than I.

I also have a gift for medicine. As my screen name says, I was once an EMT (Emergency Medical Tech), but I couldn't keep up with my continuing education points to recertify my license.

I also have a gift for humor. I love to make people laugh.

Lastly, I have the git for listening and compassion. Throughout high school, I was always the one the girls came to with thier problems and I would help them as best I could.

With all of these things, there must be a way to serve my God and Savior better than I am. I would appreciate any input from my fellow Christians.

You probably won't like my answer, but the truth is only GOD can guide you to use your talents to do his will. GOD has a purpose for all of us and only GOD sees the big picture. Its possible that you have GOD given talents that you are not even aware of. Using reflective prayer, GOD will guide you.

From your list I see that you have many talents. I would guess that whatever your purpose is, it will make use of all of them.

As a general rule if you are using your talents to help people, then you are not far from GOD's purpose for your life.

Here is a great website that may be helpful. It's a spiritual gifts test that can help you figure out where best God can use your gifts.

UPDATE: Sorry, I forgot to put these in here!!

After taking that test, you will have a better idea of what your skills are. Now start to pray specifically that God will open the doors for you. As you pray and read the Bible, God most likely will lay some specific need on your heart. I'm sure that in your area there is a ministry nearby that can use a person with your talents.

One thing that strikes me from what you said, is that hospitals and nursing homes are looking for volunteers all the time. Are there options to go and to entertain people in the hospital or even just to go and spend time with some long-term patients? They really can use someone that is willing to listen.

I'd say "Good luck" but that just doesn't seem appropriate in this case. But how about God's blessing on you as you find ways to serve God in a ministry capacity.

Get involved in the community. Offer your talents wherever you can. Look for ways to volunteer and serve, (old folk's homes, homeless shelters, etc. where you can entertain). Sometimes just having fun works, too. For instance, you can put on a social and personally invite many people who would have fun and/or who you feel could use the social atmosphere. For this, of course, it requires getting to know people where you can. Get to know your neighbors by visiting them (and being wise about it---realizing if they're too busy, etc.) You can also look into some things where you could use your medical background and volunteer such as where they call 911 (I think you just need to be EMS for this, though I'm not sure even of that) or FEMA (disaster response) and ask them if you can do more.
If you're looking for quite the experience, I taught English in both Russia and Ecuador. There are many opportunities abroad (orphanages, etc.), and it's a really fun cultural experience, too. If you're interested, you can email me. I know of some programs which place people abroad for orphanages or for teaching. And there are other opportunities, too. It depends on how long you want to stay, how old you are, and especially what you want to do.

You sound like a twin of me and that i'm attempting to break the shy element too yet at times its annoying in a international of shallow human beings. the main suitable way you will possibly help the Lord is basically via being a shining occasion of a righteous and honest woman. You wouldnt have self belief how lots human beings be conscious and easily substitute themselves whilst they witness such character. The Lord will bless you on your life I promise

I would definitely consider some type of missionary work overseas, they are all the qualities that make a good missionary, it is such a good thing to be able to sing well, all different cultures can relate to singing, think about it. there are many places where people have very little opportunity to hear about Christ.
