If it says its the word of God inside of it then isn't it calling itself holy?

How can you believe it?

[serious question]

I think i agree.
the bible may contain the words of God but it is clear it contains the philosophies of men and is not completely Perfect in its preservation.
It can be trusted as far as men have translated it correctly and as far as it is interpreted in righteousness.
I believe in it despite the inconsistencies, it brought me to faith and to learn how to pray. My faith and prayers brought me to receiving a visitation of Jesus in 3 vision. I was also visited by an angel in my bedroom.

if you go by the red letter editions of scriptures it is obvious not all the 4 gospels are the fullness of gods words, but rather mingled with stories and bi-lines. If you discover the words of Paul, he claims to have HIS own Gospel, which may or may not be the exact same thing as the gospel of christ. and of course one day Peter was rebuked by jesus because peter was following Satan in his Ignorance of how satan works. that one verse alone proves the words of satan exist in the bible.

It takes faith to believe or do anything. You have enough faith to believe you're fingers are going to move across the keyboard and type the question you did. The Bible says that God's Word is alive and powerful. It also says that if you say you have faith but you don't act on it , it's dead. Jesus said that we must be doers of the word and not just hearers. Faith comes by hearing, and by hearing the Word of God. And how can I believe it? Because I've been putting God's word to the test, I've been applying it to everyday life and it works. You can always tell a counterfeit from the true because it will never do what it says it will.

Good question because as the apostle Paul said, if the Bible's not the word of God, then there's not much point in following it.

1 Corinthians 15:31-32
Daily I face death. This I affirm by the exultation over YOU, brothers, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord. If, like men, I have fought with wild beasts at Eph´e·sus, of what good is it to me? If the dead are not to be raised up, “let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we are to die.”

In order to know that the Bible is the word of God, and to know what it actually say's you need to study it. There's no other way. I've studied the Bible with the Jehovah's Witnesses and they've proved to me that the Bible is from God, and they've shown me the they know the truth about what it say's.

An Example of showing that the Bible is from God is the prophesies used. One is where the fall of the city of Babylon to the Medes and Persians was fortold, in exactly the way that it would happen. Even the conquer Cyrus was named in the book of Isaiah 200 years before it would happen.

The Bible say's though that you have to study to get faith, and if you do God will answer you.

Matthew 7:7-8
“Keep on asking, and it will be given YOU; keep on seeking, and YOU will find; keep on knocking, and it will be opened to YOU.  For everyone asking receives, and everyone seeking finds, and to everyone knocking it will be opened.

Proverbs 2:4-5
if you keep seeking for it as for silver, and as for hid treasures you keep searching for it, 5 in that case you will understand the fear of Jehovah, and you will find the very knowledge of God

It has stood the test of time. Thousands upon thousands of people have experienced the reality of what it promises. The story line from Genesis to Revelation is one complete story of Redemption. It was written by over 40 separate writers all vastly different in culture and time from each other and yet the story is still one story (because the "Author" is God). The prophecies are explicit, especially concerning Christ, and every detail came to pass. I personally have seen the promises in its pages fulfilled in my own life. What's not to trust? - IT WORKS. And since I know God on an intimate, personal level, I know I can trust in His integrity. I believe He is far more capable of preserving His Word down through time to man in each generation than man is of destroying it. He watches over His Word to keep the original intention and message intact so that no-one "though a fool" need err in finding the path to eternal salvation and then learning through it's pages, to walk out that salvation in the truth of Himself. I believe it because I have experienced it.

It is God's Holy word written by pen by mortal men, spoken to Holy men of God, as God said to write it.
It is all in the History of the Bible

The same theme carries throughout its pages in spite of the fact that it was written over thousands of years (more time than one man could even live to conspire to do it). Also, many have tried to destroy it and nothing has succeeded. It's wisdom today is just as good as it was centuries ago, these things really work. It changed my life and the lives of hundreds of people that I know and millions of them that I have never met.

it's just a book, isn't it? written by humans, same as any old book? anyone can write a book and say it was divinely inspired. (consider the Book of Mormon--why do most christians say that it isn't true?)
