lol sounds cute to me. he is just using his imagination! VERY normal for a child his age to do.

Most children dont play with what we buy them. they will take boxes, pots and pans, and have a great time amusing themselves.

as long as he is not hurting himself, let him play

why he is a kid right now and you should cherished that. Let him open up his imagination so his mind will be more intellectual. As a kid I used to have a real cat and he help me develop a lot. If the cat is real or not is the question because your kid is so young right now that his mind can't dictate a lot of thing so he just think about having fun. If having fun is playing with the cat I don't see nothing wrong with that because he will outgrown the cat soon.

P.S: Until he start thinking about girl then you should be worried lol

NO, don't be worried. He's just 2. I think he's cute. Don't be so eager for him to grow up.

He sounds like Calvin in the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip. You should read it. You'd get a lot of laughs out of it if your son is doing it too.

Check it out:

Calvin is a little boy with a stuffed tiger. In the comic strip, when other people see the tiger, it is just a stuffed tiger. But when it is just Calvin and the Tiger, the tiger is drawn to look real because it is real to Calvin. Calvin takes the tiger with him everywhere. Hobbes, the tiger, gets Calvin in all kind of jams... you know...it was the TIGER who did it.... NOT Calvin. Sometimes Calvin and Hobbes have imaginary adventures as Spaceman Spiff.

God...it's one of the best comic stips EVER.

This is perfectly normal. All children have an object, a "lovey" if you will, that brings them comfort when a person is not around. For some it is a blanket, bottle, pacifier, stuffed animal, etc. Be glad that it is not something odd. I knew a little girl who had to have a specific ink pen with her at all times.

Not at all the boys only 2 and you should allow the boy to get a close relationship wit an animal b/c it allows them to be active and out of some trouble at that age.

Good god woman he is a developing psychopath! Like come on... he is TWO YEARS OLD.. let him enjoy his youth... if your really worried and feel like being a meddling parent set him up with another two year old and let them play.. maybe he is just substituting with the cat... like give him a break.. playing with stuffed animals is totally normal.

It's called imagination! My 5 year old still includes his dolls from time to time in his games and creative play. Why are you so concerned about whether his behaviour is 'normal'? All little ones have their quirks and cute habits. Just enjoy it!

I would not be worried at all. It sounds like that is his best friend right now. My son has 2 bears that he is attached to and he is 28 months old.

That's the sweetest thing ever. I really hope you're not going to be skeptical about every action your child does from now until he's older. It's like you're thinking he's doing something wrong (not bad, mind you- just wrong) for no reason. That's not good.
