What are some pragmatic steps you can take to make yourself more humble?

Volunteer work. Assessing ones definition of success. Thanking God in prayer on a daily basis for the assets you have be they material, mental, physical etc. Realizing that all that you have could at any time be taken from you in the blink of an eye via illness, accident, or third party intervention. Prayer for a calm spirit/demeanor helps you to focus on your goal as well.
The fact that you ask this question is a sign of humility so you are already on the right track.

Hmm...interesting question. My first reaction was that you CAN'T make yourself more humble. After giving it another thought, I feel that one important thing that you can do is to leave your ego at the door. Realize that you are not the most important person in the world, and think about how you come off to others.
That is all that I can really think of.

Of personal opinion to me, true humbleness really starts to set in, once we realize how much in disarray our lives our without GOD. As we glance around us in life these days, so much emphasize is placed on More, MOre, more and then some, that true humbleness is something that's overlooked. As powerful as Jesus was, he always condesended to people of lower estate than himself with the goal of seeing their souls saved, so i guess prayer, compassion, and a wilingess to listen are good keys.

1. Remind yourself constantly that without God's gift of Grace, you can do nothing at all of your own accord.
2. God has given you your particular gifts and talents simply because it is his pleasure -- not something that you deserve or have earned.
3. Cultivate deep within you an attitude of gratitude!

Read, study, and obey the WORD of our FATHER in Heaven. HE is the WAT the TRUTH and the LIFE. Study these scriptures and see what you think. To become a Christian:
1. We must HEAR GOD’s WORD. - Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
2. We are told to BELIEVE. - To the Prison guard in Acts 16:31 Paul and Silas said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household."
3. We must REPENT (turn from) of our sins. - Acts 17:30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent.
4. We are told to CONFESS CHRIST before men. - Matthew 10:32 "Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.
5. We are to enter the waters and BE BAPTIZED. - Mark 16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
6. We are told to CONTINUE TO BE FAITHFUL until death. - Revelation 2:10b Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

Reading the Bible and understanding how we suck and sin all the time will do it quickly. Examine the way God designed for us to live and compare to your life, and you'll see.

Meditate to reach transpersonal states of awareness. Instead of being your ego learn to observe and control that part of your being.
