The alzheimer's association with aluminum cookware has never been substantiated. Thus, it's up to you to decide whether or not it's a risk. If you look around at commercial kitchen suppliers, the majority of their pots and pans are aluminum. Personally, I'd rather stick with stainless cookware for the sake of being safe and the fact that it's very nearly bulletproof.

That being said, most beer kegs found today are stainless...and a bastard to re-work into cooking/brewing equipment at home (not impossible, just difficult).

Distilling is illegal without a permit in the US. However, assuming you live in New Zealand, where it is permitted to distill your own spirits at home, a wealth of information can be found at http://homedistiller.org

Most beer kegs are manufactured out of 306 stainless steel...so that would be good for cooking the mash in...but, the old folk song says to "get you a copper kettle..."

Trid already gave the link I wanted to post here... aluminium is not ideal, for any cooking (which does not prevent the masses to buy cheap aluminium pots and pans...). Stainless steel or copper is better, but with the latter you have to be careful, copper can react with other metals, and also food stuff...
