i'm not sure where people get thier apocalyptic visions from. Jesus doesn't come back in the revelations. The only references to a second coming are fictional works like jesus christ superstar from the rock band the who. The only people still waiting for the savior is the jews.
The closest thing is the rapture, good people dissappear to heaven, i imagine it as they slowly dissappear like in back to the future, becoming see through and less and less there until they are gone.
fantastical accounts say thier will be an antichrist who many will love but few will see jesus for what he is. He will again be shunned and called crazy by most humans.

When Jesus comes back, he is going to take his children up with him. The world is going to be in utter desolation, something no man could ever imagine. The very little our minds can comprehend and God gave us is so terrible, and its only the tip of the iceberg. Terrible....
