Would you ever double down with two face cards or take the 20?
More often than not the worst that happens is I break even.

As has already been mentioned, you should never double down on a 20.
Assuming you mean split instead of double down, the only time you should do it is if
(1) you are counting cards,
(2) you know almost all the cards remaining to be dealt are aces, faces or 10s,
(3) the dealer has a 4 or 5 up, and
(4) you do not mind incurring the rath of other players at the table.
You are wrong in saying "More often than not the worst that happens is I break even." Since there are eight possible vaules (2,3,4,5,6,7,8, or 9) that will make your hand worse and only five (10, J Q,K,A) that will not make your hand worse, you are likely to convert one winning hand into two losing hands.

Do not double down. Double down only when your cards total 8 - 11. Split possibly.

You should stand with 20.
The only time you should split 10's is in a tournament, and your behind. The only reason a casino lets you split 10's is. It's to there advantage. If you want to win more money bet larger amounts. DON'T break up a winning hand.

In very specific instances where you're counting cards, it may be right to split 20. In some tournament cases, it is correct.
However, if you just go to a casino to play, just don't do it. With the information you have you just shouldn't do it.
Doubling down is never correct :)

If you double down OR split you will be laughed at by the other people at the table. Just don't do it.

You would absolutely NOT double down...nor should you split. Just stand and rake in your chips.
